What is going on with Libre Writer?
Posted by: PinStripe - 06-15-2017, 05:58 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (4)

Every time I open a doc in Libre Writer, it takes several minutes to open!
This Never used to occur.

The blue bar loads at the bottom of the page and shows the progress and
some docs can take like 5 minutes to load!

I'm running LinuxLite 3.4 with all the current updates and opening .doc files.

Is this an issue for Linux Lite only or is this happening across the board?

I really want to install a different office suite, but can seem to get one to
run on this OS.

Maybe LinuxLite could go back to installing Open Office by default?

  2 days to go
Posted by: bitsnpcs - 06-14-2017, 10:12 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (8)

Hello,

fishing season begins in 2 days, does anyone like fishing ?

Last year I caught no fish, I did catch weeds on the bottom, or junk, once a small piece of car tyre  :-\ , just as a boat was passing and he insisted on telling me there were bigger ones like that in there.
Last year I began fishing, I do lure fishing, and 1 time also tried a type of lure fishing called drop shot fishing, although I think I was doing drop shot wrong after later watching videos on it, hooks and lures too big. So I have smaller ones for drop shotting to try this year.
I began late in the summer, I went 5 times in total so far.

  hdd format issue
Posted by: bitsnpcs - 06-13-2017, 10:51 PM - Forum: Hard Drives and SSDs - Replies (12)

Hello,

I have portable hard drive Western Digital My Passport red 1TB.
It mounted, but it could not copy small mp4 video files, (tutorials I am saving), giving an error "unable to splice file".
I had searched about this and it says at Ubuntu it is because it is Fat32 file system, but it is NTFS according to Gparted.
I decided to format it, Gparted cannot format it. Disks cannot format it.
I then used Disks, erase function, this "worked", it began Saturday at 14:00 hours, at 23:00 hours tonight (Tuesday) it had completed 86GB, and wanted a extra 1 Months+ to complete.
It is very slowly, but another 6 weeks it is not acceptable, I stopped the process.

Now the Disks software can format the hard drive, as NTFS, it produced the below as results.

It made incorrectly and also both of the partitions produce this result

This shows in Gparted as 1 partition and this error

Format option is available in Gparted, it gives these detail/result

Mounting that gives the same split/ 2 mount devices and same file sizes, and same error of unable to mount.

  Text editor (Leafpad 0.8.18.1)
Posted by: Hardcoretexan - 06-13-2017, 06:09 PM - Forum: Printing and Scanning - Replies (7)

Everytime I use my text editor "Leafpad 0.8.18.1"  the first line is
Untitled 1/1
I have went through every setting but there is nothing that I can find to delete this.

Searches have not been any help, this one said "

Go to File, Page Setup and remove the header and footer text there."
But there is no page set up listed.

Any help removing this would be greatly appreciated.

  Software Replacement for Systemback?
Posted by: elelme - 06-12-2017, 08:05 PM - Forum: Linux Lite Software Development - Replies (16)

The maintainer of Systemback is too busy, it seems. Hopefully someone will proffer a suitable replacement before the next major update of Linux Lite, or before systemback is gone. Thanks to those who suggested alternatives.
