Recently purchased Dell M4500 i7 system will not recognize 1tb drive, but will on lower capacity drives. Know it is a bios update. According to Intel, there have been known issues of system takeover due to hacking, so new bios updates have been produced, this system has one as of June 2, 2017. It is an exe type file, but this system has UEFI as well as BIOS. LL 34 running on standard BIOS, will not boot in UEFI. Anyone done a BIOS update recently? My experience was years ago using floppy disk. :-[
Have recently had to do a long report (25 pages) using Libre Office writer. Normally use this software on my HP dc desktop ( 4GB memory paired Dual core 64bit for day to day documents etc without problems.
Stared to have screen freezing issues . Ensured as few open documents etc, and even switched off LAN just in case.
Not sure whether it is a hardware issue, or software +- OS issue. Keep updated - LL3.4.
Also is there a way to switch off the "install updates" net scanner? Would this be resource draining.
Run SOPHOS active scanning in the background- is that likely to severely overload my system. Don't appear to have the problem with normal day to day workload.
Thoughts on the problem appreciated. Thanks.
When I restart or shutdown and turn on my computer every setting done with desktop i.e. wallpaper, icons size are back to default.
The problem is with Desktop Setting. It doesn't save.

I went to use my computer with Linux Lite on it then it gave me this error message I tried recovery mode to see if I could repair any broken packages then after doing that I thought they would have fixed it apparently not I am stumped I don't know what to do.

Hi all, I just installed LL 3.4 on my netbook and it actually runs smooth. Now it will not install any updates it keeps giving me an error about updates could not be installed. I tried using the terminal and still same issues. I have a link at the bottom to show the issue, it also shows Midori but I have uninstalled that browser. Also I ran the Package System Repair but it actually froze at the end so I had to turn the netbook off then restart. Now the install updates item in the start menu is gone and its not even in the main menu. How can I get the install updates entry back and also fix this update issue?

I've always used Linux Lite on my old Dell Inspiron.I like this distro linux very much, its amazing, but I always had problems in my native language translation. The translation is not done correctly (incomplete) as in other distros and this is very frustrating. I wish that in the next versions this can be solved. I used the linux lite help guide to set up my language correctly.
Hi folks
I have this weird issue with a PS3 generic controller.
When using the controller on LL desktop environment if I press left trigger the mouse pointer goes to the up and stays there like pressing up on the left analog and when I press right trigger it goes left and stays there like I'm pressing left.
I have to disconnect from USB and reconnect.
I'm also using a mouse but I tried with only the controller connected and the same happens.
I have installed jstest in an attempt to remap buttons to no success.
Is there an app in which I can remap buttons and assign actions?
Like open the Menu close windows or right mouse click menu?
I ask this because I would like to control LL laid back on my chair
Thank you
Hi all, I am currently using LL 1.0.6 on my Toshiba Netbook. Used to have DSL, now using Verizon FiOS. I'm using the wifi it worked perfect when I was using DSL, now it only shows connected and no websites load, Skype works, Transmission torrent client works but the downloads are way to slow. I cannot use any terminal commands to download any software it does not connect. Is this a limitation of my Netbook? I don't think it is, it's has 802.11n. Or a limitation of LL 1.0.6?
Thanks

Linux Lite will be participating in the global protest for Net Neutrality.
For those who want to know what Net Neutrality is:
"Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers and governments regulating the Internet should treat all data on the Internet the same, not discriminating or charging differentially by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or mode of communication."
