Hello, I'm new to Linux Lite OS and programming.
At the moment, I'm learning Java programming from a course at Udemy and I've encountered a problem with empty spaces in outputs.
Here's part of the codes:
public String toString()
{
return first + " " + middle + " " + last;
}
Name myName = new Name("Cookie" + "Monster" + "Jr");
System.out.println("myName: " + myName.toString());Then I compiled the codes and here's what it's shown on the Terminal:
mei@mei-Aspire-4750:~/Documents/java$ javac NameTest.java
mei@mei-Aspire-4750:~/Documents/java$ javac Name.java
mei@mei-Aspire-4750:~/Documents/java$ java NameTest
myName: CookieMonsterJrAll the spaces are appearing right before the name. I'm using Linux's Text Editor. Could this the reason why the codes are not working properly?
Yo! new Linux user here, and I have a question about the easytether app. I've seen that it works on unbuntu and linux mint.. is there any possibility the app will work with linux lite also? And if so how do I do this? I have a android that can only use 8 gb of mobile hotspot, has no USB tether option. I used PDANET app as my current usb tether set up on windows vista because i've hit the 8GB mobile hotspot cap. which is by the way infuriating.. most companies allow you to continue hotspot use just at throttled speeds. The boost mobile plan that I have will just redirect me to boost mobile site to reboost my plan which I wont be able to do until Thursday. I stay in rural area we don't have cable internet option, only satellite internet and we don't have that either. I use my phone for internet browsing streaming since i have unlimited plan.
Just wanted to know if easytether worked with linux lite. If not, I won't be online till next week but eh that's not problem.. I've also heard that I can reinstall windows if needed.
Just thought I'd introduce myself, I'm new to Linux. I haven't installed Linux Lite yet but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do that here after I finish posting this. I do have a network tethering question but if it's one thing I know it's not to throw a lot of different topics around in places they don't belong Lol so I'll just go to the networking section after here. Looking forward to meeting y'all and sharing tips n tricks. I'm a gamer too... not really PC gamer I mean I enjoyed the few games I've played I'm just used to controller vs KB/M.
Well, I'm not gonna ramble on I'm anxious to start my new journey!
Edit: Sorry about the profanity Lol
Hello everyone,
This is my first time using Linux Lite. I hadn't thought of trying Linux Lite before till my Windows OS crashed recently after an unfortunate Windows update.
I look forward to interacting with the community here, and please do pardon me if I ask silly questions because I'm not very good with computer and I'm trying to learn more about it.
Thank you!
I recently discovered that LL-3.4/64 makes use of the xenial-proposed repository and wondering if this is intentional?
I ask because LL-3.2/64 doesn't use the proposed repository (by default) and not even after an upgrade. While there's nothing wrong with this, two "identical" LL-3.4 machines will end up using slightly different files depending on how the OS was installed. For example, my "native" LL-3.4 machine uses kernel linux-image-4.4.0-87-generic (from proposed repository) while my LL-3.4 (via upgrade) uses kernel linux-image-4.4.0-83-generic. Again, nothing wrong with this, just something to take into consideration when troubleshooting multiple computers on LL or troubleshoot with multiple people who have LL installed.
For a listing of files from the proposed repository go to Synaptic (start > all > install/remove programs) and in Synaptic click on Origin (lower left corner).
After updating the kernel (at the command line, to kernel 4.4.0-87-generic), grub will default to the previous kernel (4.4.0-86-generic) on boot.
To fix this, enter into grub advanced options at boot, and select kernel 4.4.0-87-generic or the most current kernel listed.
This has happend twice. Now and on the previous kernel update but not before that.
One method to check this:
In a terminal type
ls /boot/ | grep vmlinuzuname -rThese troubleshooting steps didn't help:
1. Shutdown vs Restart when rebooting
2. Running update-grub
Hello!
My terminal command's foreground is acting weird. I change its color, and whenever I close my terminal it goes back to white (the default color). Can someone help me?
Dear community,
I am sitting now in a beautiful public libary in Germany with beautiful and fast internet, the only problem: I cannot make updates or upgrades via apt-get or install anything. When I try to do so the bash gets stuck at:
0% [Connecting to archive.ubuntu.com (91.189.88.152)] [Connecting to repo.linuxFirst I thought it would be a problem of my computer dealing with Ipv4 so I tried out different things like
- creating the file /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99force-ipv4 and writing Acquire::ForceIPv4 false;
- uncommenting in /etc/gai.conf the line 54 (precedence ::ffff:0:0/96 100)
but none seemed to work. Silly enough, when I turn my mobile phone into a mobile hotspot and connect my pc, apt-get works normally. Thats why I think the public wifi is blocking somewhat apt-get and other services or data traffic...another hint is that evolution does not work neither.
I am no professional, however I have never heard about public hotspots blocking certain services, in particular apt-get... I don't know whether there is a solution but I wanted to ask here, maybe someone nows how to get apt-get and evolution running under such circumstances. 8) Working with LaTeX, R and some other programs often requires updating or installing of special packages, so it would be quite useful for me to be able to do so in many physical environments

Thank you

Tom
