I've just installed LL 2.2 (32-bit) on a Lenovo T420 laptop. The machine has Win7 (not used much, I'm glad to say...), plus Arch Linux and Sparky Linux already installed.
I used the "something else" option in the installer to set up partitions. Can't say I found the "change" dialogue very intuitive, but I eventually got mount points set up for / and /home, with / being formatted ext4, /home being left alone (since I use the same home partition for the other Linux installs as well).
Install went fairly well, though I would have liked an option to disable plymouth - don't like it and I've had problems with it with some video cards. If there is an option to disable it, I didn't see it during the install.
After install, I couldn't get the machine to complete boot in Linux-lite. I managed to escape the plymouth screen early enough to see that the system was complaining about serious file system errors on the /home partition. Selecting "Ignore" allowed boot to complete. The home partition wasn't formatted during install, and uses xfs as a file system.
I booted from a SystemRescue CD and ran xfs_repair on the /home partition - no problems found, but LL still complained about serious file system errors on the partition. I then modified /etc/fstab to include the root partitions for my other Linux installs (they also use xfs filesystem).
I was able to mount the other partitions, but the next time I started the system I got errors on all of the xfs partitions, followed by an error mounting /home, so the system would not complete startup.
Anyone else using xfs? I use it by preference, and I've never had this sort of problem before. Not to mention that attempting to boot other systems showed that partitions that had no problems earlier needed xfs_repair to be run before they would run the other distributions cleanly.
Paul.

Hello. I'm a long term Linux user, living in Bicester, Oxfordshire.
My normal preference is Arch Linux, but I've been looking for a Linux distribution that I can give to clients that are interested in alternatives to Windows. I'm not a great fan of Ubuntu, but the idea of something based on the LTS version of Ubuntu is quite appealing, so Linux-lite was quite high on my list of possibilities.
I've installed the 32-bit version of 2.2 on my Lenovol T420 laptop, but I've hit some fairly significant problems, don't know if they are specific to Linux-lite or general Ubuntu related issues. I'll detail them in other areas. I'm not sure if they relate to the hardware (I normally only use 64-bit versions of Linux, but need a 32-bit option for a couple of machines and I'm short of blank DVDs at the moment...)
I like the look of Linux-lite and would like to use it, but I'll have to work these problems out before I can recommend it to anyone.

[SOLVED] How to install Adobe Flash in Linux Lite

Hello there!
This is probably a hollowback question, but please note I am completely new to anything Linux and Linux Lite is my first experience with Linux so I don't really know how to do anything yet, so if you're going to respond, please assume I know only Windows 7 and nothing Linux orientated.
When I first installed Linux Lite, adobe flash was installed automatically with it. However, it seems something, i assume an update, changed it to showing in video windows "You need to update your flash player to view this video. Download now from Adobe.com".
So I downloaded some files from Adobe.com but have no idea what to do with it. It's not quite like windows where there is some setup.exe file to click and everything happens automatically.
In conclusion, my question is how to install Adobe Flash step by step in the ways of Linux. I have searched for some answers but most answers assume I know what things are in Linux and how installing stuff works.
Is there somewhere easy I can have things installed with one click? I was thinking of an addon for Mozilla Firefox, but couldn't find any Adobe Flash addon.

Hi all,
I just rebuilt/upgraded my Linux Lite system to LL 2.2 over the weekend. Everything is running wonderful.....except......every time I restart the system my desktop icons get jumbled up and rearranged. I found the auto arrange option, but there is no way to know if it is on or off. It seems to set itself automatically to on at restart. Is there any way to disable this "feature" so that my icons will stay put where I place them? ??? ? I like the idea of the auto arrange, but only when I want to use it.
Any help with this would be great.....thanks.

[SOLVED] Key Binding

Hi.
My backspace key on my keyboard is dead. Totally. I had problem with it before but after many quick fixes that I did to this key, now its dead.
Quote:RIP beloved backspace key
Before that, when it was still working I used xmodmap for binding other keys to different places.
But now, because its dead, I cant bind it to "delete" key(its near backspace and I dont use it anyway), because when you bind it, you need to press both keys to get their ID's...
So I'm screwed a bit... If you dont believe me, try not to use "backspace" for one day :]
Its damn hard to find keyboard for my netbook model, and those that I found have price made by some stoned junkies that have no idea what they selling, so I need to find way to bind backspace to different key on my keyboard.
Any idea how can I make it?
Maybe there is app/command that have universal ID's for every keys?

[SOLVED] Signing PDF Document

I'm trying to impose a second signature from file onto a pdf document.
The first worked fine as Adobe allow this but the second required sending to a recipient for them to sign. No matter how we try, the second signature cannot be added.
I am now using GIMP Image Editor to do this and whilst it does work, the image cannot be scaled down to fit in the appropriate area, it always appears oversize and overlaps other areas of the form.
Has anyone any idea how to reduce the size of the image?
Thanks for your help.

A small suggestion on what to do after downloading the images.
Since the images are semi transparent you can tweak the color or set the gradient.
