I have LL 2.2 on drive, Mint on sbd1 along with my data partition which was shared with LL 2.2/Mint/Windows 7 (Win 7 used to be on sbd2 as well, but I removed after I was able to get some Windows programs running on Wine).  Now booting into either LL or Mint I get this:


1) On boot it tells me it can't mount data and Skip it to continue. 
2) After boot attempting to mount manually I get: Failed to mount "Data"  Error mounting system-managed device /dev/sdb7: Command Line 'mount "/home/chris/data" exited with non-zero exit status 14: The disk contains an unclean file system (0, 0).
Metadata kept in Windows cache, refused to mount.
Failed to mount '/dev/sdb7': Operation not permitted
The NTFS partition is in an unsafe state. Please resume and shutdown
Windows fully (no hibernation or fast restarting), or mount the volume
read-only with the 'ro' mount option


The Windows 7 data was not linked there, that was simply a default save location.


Thoughts?  It worked so great for weeks!

I guess I should mention I tried ro mount option with the following and got a very similar error message:

Is there a Terminal command to get the system tray back to default settings in LL 2.2

Hi all,
        I have just installed " Kdepasswd " from the  " Lite Software Centre " it seems to have installed O.K. but I cant find it anywhere on the P.C. I have used " Run Program " and nothing happens. If I type a search for it in " Synaptic Package Manager " It shows as installed !
            I am running O.S. 1.0.8 Lite.

how do i unlock the screen if it locks up during an install?

well, i tried hitting restart, and i guess the install finished, because it is running fine; doing updates now

i chose it because it looks good, it works, and it doesn't use too many resources on my older laptop; when minimized, firefox plays last.fm using only 25% of cpu, which is decent compared to some others i have tried

Ticked Option 2“Erase disc and Install Linux” AND ticked option 3 LVM.  On going to "next" a Grey box came up with problem ( did not not what it said.E)So Unticked Box 3 (LVM) and tried "next" – again Grey Box came up.F) Tried Quit and Back but process hung – Had  force to switch off via on/off button.G) On rebooting boot screen  hangs  I.e blank screen with flashing cursor top left.H) Force shut off.  Bios Boot prority - usb stick - DVDROM SATA HDDI) Plug in usb stick with puppy linix liveto perhaps “rescue” - will not initiate still blank screen - flashing cursorJ) Put in live DVD Puppy linux  and full install to HDD.  Check HDD with Gparted – HDD  taken Puppy linux and sda flagged “BOOT”Take out DVD and reboot – Blank screen Flashing cursor.K) Enter BIOS on re boot up (F2) and set to default –  SATA HDD as priority.L) Still Blank Screen and flashing cursorHelp please – Now you know why I have my psuedonym –  Computers yet again “driving me tio drink”.  For me this is not a hobby – Using Computers (NOT IT) is my job =  data crunching – mining.- Fortunately this is not my main computer – that is still on LL 2.0

I used LinSSID a while back in LL2 and it worked very well for scanning what wifi was about near to me.
Today when I try to use it for the first time in LL2.2, it does not appear to be working and I am unsure why, or how to solve this ?
This is what occurs -
1/ the program GUI does not open when clicked.
2/ a box pops up on the desktop instead that is like so -
    "password required for iwlist scan:"
Below this it reads -
"First Shot:"
and below this it has a space to type password
Below this it has cancel and okay buttons.
3/ if cancel is clicked a new box pops up reading "password fail"
4/ if something silly such as 1 character is entered it pops up a box as per #3 then as per #2 but reading "second shot".
5/ I looked up iwlist and it says it is a command for scanning wifi.

I am trying to test from home what set ups work best, and also experiment how a variety of combinations compare, and if I can connect to the any of the many free public access wifi that have no password. Later in the year I will also try to be using wifi when out/mobile sometimes.

In this instance the new kit I am trying to test is -
1/ a small wifi n dongle with 5dbi external antenna.
2/ an Alfa 7dbi panel antenna attached to my Alfa Awuso36h, I know this adapter works fine as it is what I have used in my previous exploring, I have also retried it using its 5dbi omni, and also a Yagi directional I have and the same occurs in LinSSID, in all tries, which is why I guessed it may be a software issue not hardware.

Here is a new one.....and I have done a little research on this but have no conclusion.

In the past I have installed VNC on my linux machine for remote desktop into my computer. After rebuilding this machine to LL 2.2 I decided to try Teamviewer 10 as a remote desktop app....since I have been using it for connecting to other systems for a couple years. It is much simpler to install and configure. However, it appears I cannot access the system from the outside when the screen is locked. When I first installed TV 10, I had no trouble accessing it during some testing, but the screen was never locked at that time. The last two times I have tried connecting remotely it has gone through the process of "initiating display parameters" but fails to actually connect. I can only assume this is due to the screen being locked locally.

Sooooo....what is the solution to getting this working correctly? And if there is no solution, is there a simplified method to get vnc running on LL 2.2.....as installing vnc seems to keep changing each time I have to rebuild, and I have to figure out how to get it to work again.

Is it possible with Linux Lite? Whenever I try and enable encryption the installer basically refuses to do so.
