Hi all. Want to dual boot Linux Lite with Windows Vista on an HP Pavilion DV6. Got the BIOS changed to boot from DVD/CD and that part went fine. However when it came to installing it on the drive there was no option for install Linux Lite next to Windows. It was erase Windows completely (which I would like but it isn't my PC lol) or the do something else option basically and I don't know how to partition a drive. I am using a fresh download of Linux Lite 2.4 32 bit. Thanks ahead of time.

Hi all. Have a little problem removing an entry I created in LL 2.2 I have wine installed and went ahead and installed Photoshop CS6 for work.  I removed the icon on the desktop and created a Photoshop entry in the Main Menu / Graphics. It keeps saying child process error. I tried to remove it the entry I created but cannot. So I uninstalled Photoshop using Wine, everything is now gone with Photoshop but the entry I created is still there and I do not know how to remove it. Any help would be appreciated

I am running this via iso image, version 2.4.  It is on an old XP machine I am trying to bring back to life for browsing use only by the elderly to go in a computer lab.  So far this seems really good.  Is there a way to get it to run off the hard drive in case the disc gets removed?

I'm new using linux and chose linux lite for my old HP mini 110-1049TU.
Installation went great and I'm expecting using linux lite out of the box but I'm stuck because network adapter (cable and wireless) is not working.
I've search forums but nothing worked so far.

Click network button (bottom right of screen) text Ethernet Network disconnected, meanwhile Enable Networking has check mark beside it.

I did try click Edit and input it manually but Save button is greyed out.

From Terminal I typed iwconfig, result:
lo        no wireless extensions.
eth0  no wireless extensions.

In the software repository there is the old version of clamav 98.6 which I have downloaded and it works fine. Problem is, there is a new and updated version that is not added to all the Linux distros and so we have to wait till it gets added to software manager. Will that be done in Lite? Seems I cannot download and install unless I manually rebuild it and I am not that experienced nor knowledgeable
to be able to do that. Comodo does not work for me in Lite. Cannot fix the file drive filter even after all the on line suggestions to try which means I cannot scan individual files. Thanks to anyone who might have some answers.

Is there some app for XFCE or something? I don't how it works in Unity, but when you change a wallpaper in Unity, the highlight background will change a color, to fit the wallpaper's style.

Or is it Unity only feature?

For some time now we have had a dual boot setup with Linux Lite and Vista Ultimate.  We had it set up in an older Compaq Presario SR5412DE, the specs can be seen at          http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/Comp...c01386897/

The time came to retire the Compaq so we had a go at building a new desktop (which was a bit nerve racking but fun). We have now returned our attention to the old Compaq, what to do with it...  One option is to replace the HDD and run it as a standalone Linux Lite machine.

The current thinking is to replace the existing  HDD with something like a Seagate 500GB 7200 rpm 64mb and add a wireless setup like the following one from Asus;

In my head this looks like a simple task, but then I am a beginner :-) so I am looking for a bit of general input/views from people who know what to do/avoid, is this a realistic plan?

I was installing another OS and by mistake it deleted grub from my Linux Lite drive.
I still have everything there, but it won't boot. It goes to a Grub Rescue prompt.

How can I reinstall grub on my drive and be able to boot into my Linux Lite?
I have it setup just the way I want it and would hate to have to reinstall.

I have an LL/win8.1 dual boot UEFI enabled setup on a laptop.
I can use an external monitor with the laptop in win8.1, to give me two screens to work from.  The system is merely, 'plug-and-play'
without any complication.

However, when I rebooted into LL with the second monitor plugged in, it failed to boot, the progress bar hanging indefinitely.
On removing the external monitor from LL, and restarting, LL still hangs on bootup so something is messed up.
I'm assuming this can be fixed by booting into a live enviroment and using the terminal, but could someone explain how to do this.
