[SOLVED] LL won't reboot after plugging in an external monitor - m654321 - 05-04-2015

I have an LL/win8.1 dual boot UEFI enabled setup on a laptop.
I can use an external monitor with the laptop in win8.1, to give me two screens to work from.  The system is merely, 'plug-and-play'
without any complication.

However, when I rebooted into LL with the second monitor plugged in, it failed to boot, the progress bar hanging indefinitely.
On removing the external monitor from LL, and restarting, LL still hangs on bootup so something is messed up.
I'm assuming this can be fixed by booting into a live enviroment and using the terminal, but could someone explain how to do this.
Many thanks for any help with this...

Regards
Mike

Some time later, after working in win8.1, and rebooting into LL, the problem seems to have resolved itself,
without any intervention of any kind
LL rebooting is fine now.
