Hi,
I encounter a deleting/disappearing file/folder problem under WINE and FSViewer.
The problem will be happened If I'm trying to rename a folder (using right click and choosing 'rename' in pulldown menu) and then click [ESC] for canceling the rename action. After that action, certainly I will not able to find the folder/file even though I had searched it outside WINE, such as via terminal (using 'ls' command).
Right now the important for me is to recover the disappear forlder/file. Thanks for any suggestion for recovering.
cheers.
Now I know where this Linux Lite 3.0 wallpaper comes from.
This morning, within LL3.0, I have twice tried unsuccessfully to symlink '/home' (sda2 on physical drive1) to '/mnt/DATA', the latter occupying a single ntfs partition (sdb1) on physical drive2. When I reboot the PC, the folders in /home/mike appear white, with a cross on each one. On examining the contents of sdb1, I find no trace of the folders I created there.
Symlinking is something I've done routinely in the past with the LL2 series without a hitch. Is 'utf8' still supported in LL3.0 or is this now discontinued? Would be grateful for help with this.
Thanks for any help
Mike
This is a first-time post from a new member. Hopefully, I'm doing this right.
I'm trying to decide between Linux Lite and Mint XFCE for my first Linux OS. Linux Lite does not consistently detect my wi-fi network with a Live install of either the 32-bit or 64-bit versions. The problem occurs with Live installs using either a DVD or USB stick drive. About 50% of the time I can connect to the wi-fi network by left clicking on the network icon in the panel and selecting the name of my network from the list that pops up. But, the other 50 percent of the time when I left click I do not get a list of wi-fi networks that have been detected. When I add a new network connection by manually filling in the network and router info, Lite adds it as a new wi-fi network, but it doesn't access it and I haven't been able to make Lite to access it. So, I can't connect to it. This is not a problem with any other distro I've tried -- about a half dozen in all. All of them auto detect my wi-fi network without any trouble and connect when I click on the network name from the list of wi-fi networks that have been detected.
Am I doing something wrong or is there a network connection bug in Lite? I'm really hoping to clear this up so I can give Lite an equal chance against Mint XFCE.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am trying to install this printer on LL 2.0 with usb connection. The printer is showing in Printers - localhost but I am getting an error:
HP Device requires a proprietary xxx plug in, run hp plug in. (where xxx = word i can't decipher on my scrawl!!!)
I've searched this forum (there's one post) and googled ubuntu forums and tried everything (installing hplip etc) but no joy. I don't know where I am with it now. Can someone walk me through it step by step? I am comfortable with Terminal.
TIA.
A friend said to me this morning Im sick to the back teeth with this old laptop.....its going in the bin.
Whats wrong with it....?
Wont start.
Tried a normal boot (Windows Vista).........crashed.
Tried to boot in safe mode.........crashed.
Tried to boot with LL 2.8 live usb........Perfect boot.
LL 2.8 installed and updated.
Another machine saved from the bin.
I have Seagate Expansion Portable Drive, 4TB capacity, with USB3.0 connectivity.
It became corrupted and so need to wipe it clean & reformat it. I have already recovered all my files from it.
After reformatting, I want to be able to access files from both LL (mainly) and Windows OS (occasionally), so therefore will use an ntfs file system.
However, I'm unsure if I should use an MSDOS or GPT partition table - which is the best one to use for a drive of this size (4TB).
I'd be grateful if you could advise.
Many thanks
Mike

Just the link. 7 screen shots of LL in bash on Windows 10 via Remmina and RDP. Hacked LXDE. Still working on it. Note the images with four tool bars, top Remmina, next Linux Lite on bash, next Windows 10 HE, and bottom Linux Lite on home desktop. All the applications pictured work well with RDP, actually better than on Windows 10 desktop.

Hi everyone,
I know there are loads of threads on this but I can never seem to be able to find a proper answer. I have a Wifi adapter that isn't recognized by the system, going to the driver manager shows an unknown piece of hardware (which I believe is a red herring, a random motherboard driver that does nothing for the Wifi problem). It came with a CD-ROM with a driver on it but I haven't a clue what terminal commands are used to install it. The output for the lsusb command is;
