I am trying to install this printer on LL 2.0 with usb connection. The printer is showing in Printers - localhost but I am getting an error:
HP Device requires a proprietary xxx plug in, run hp plug in. (where xxx = word i can't decipher on my scrawl!!!)
I've searched this forum (there's one post) and googled ubuntu forums and tried everything (installing hplip etc) but no joy. I don't know where I am with it now. Can someone walk me through it step by step? I am comfortable with Terminal.
TIA.
A friend said to me this morning Im sick to the back teeth with this old laptop.....its going in the bin.
Whats wrong with it....?
Wont start.
Tried a normal boot (Windows Vista).........crashed.
Tried to boot in safe mode.........crashed.
Tried to boot with LL 2.8 live usb........Perfect boot.
LL 2.8 installed and updated.
Another machine saved from the bin.
I have Seagate Expansion Portable Drive, 4TB capacity, with USB3.0 connectivity.
It became corrupted and so need to wipe it clean & reformat it. I have already recovered all my files from it.
After reformatting, I want to be able to access files from both LL (mainly) and Windows OS (occasionally), so therefore will use an ntfs file system.
However, I'm unsure if I should use an MSDOS or GPT partition table - which is the best one to use for a drive of this size (4TB).
I'd be grateful if you could advise.
Many thanks
Mike

Just the link. 7 screen shots of LL in bash on Windows 10 via Remmina and RDP. Hacked LXDE. Still working on it. Note the images with four tool bars, top Remmina, next Linux Lite on bash, next Windows 10 HE, and bottom Linux Lite on home desktop. All the applications pictured work well with RDP, actually better than on Windows 10 desktop.

Hi everyone,
I know there are loads of threads on this but I can never seem to be able to find a proper answer. I have a Wifi adapter that isn't recognized by the system, going to the driver manager shows an unknown piece of hardware (which I believe is a red herring, a random motherboard driver that does nothing for the Wifi problem). It came with a CD-ROM with a driver on it but I haven't a clue what terminal commands are used to install it. The output for the lsusb command is;

Linuxlite-2.8...How do I resize to a larger pixel
I have two Fuji Siemens laptops ( see sig below), each with 2GB RAM and dual core Intel processors and built in wifi. These have been running upgrades of LL since V1.6 32bit. They have been speedy and had "new" life breathed into them. Not dual boot; full LL install only.
However since upgrading to LL3.0 - standard kernel, I have note that response times on both the machines etc have been slower. My concern is, as LL develops, it will be less compatible with older machines. The latter still having considerable life left in them.
The question therefore is what, if anything, can be pruned from LL to to overcome these potential problems.
The laptops are used for business, browsing, emails, multimedia etc. Not gaming. So Office, browser, Thunderbird, SKYPE etc are needed.
As an aside, my Toshiba Sat Pro A10 with 1GB RAM had to be downgraded to Kernel 3.16 when I upgraded to LL3.0 32bit, and even now struggles. It appears that LL2.8 was about the tipping point for that machine.
Thoughts welcomed. Thanks. Happy to experiment but as still a newbie as far as linux ( under the bonnet) is concerned.
Hi,
I have about 6 machines running Linux Lite 3.0, all running perfectly, so I decided last night to change my "main" desktop over, since I had upgraded the Kubuntu install on it to 16.04 and I didn't like the latest KDE ;D
This computer is a dual monitor setup with Intel onboard video, 1 18"VGA on the left, 1 HDMI 19" on the right.
What I want to achieve is the monitor on the right to be primary with the start menu etc. on it and extend the desktop to the left, so that a window opened on the right monitor can be dragged to the left onto the left monitor. Right now, the left monitor has the start menu etc. on it and it refuses to move. I noticed in the dual monitor section of the manual, there is a "position" option in the screenshot. However, my display option doesn't have that, it has a drag and drop positioning tool and a tick box for Primary display instead.
I have the monitors correctly positioned (19" on the right, 18" on the left) but for some reason checking and unchecking the Primary display and applying has no affect on either monitor. The main screen stays stuck on the left. It worked in KDE, so I know it's possible, I feel like I'm just not seeing something.
TIA,
Mike
Hi everyone,
I just stumbled across this nice guide about the Xfce Desktop which is the default one in our beloved Linux Lite:

Might come in handy for Linux Lite users who want to dig a bit deeper
