I've been on Linux Lite for a while now, Since I've had my Android Phone I've been connecting it to the computer and downloading pictures using Gthumb. Since an upgrade just after Christmas the phone is not showing, there used to be Volume showing at the bottom of the Home Folder sidepane that I used to click on to access the phone but its not there now, also if I try to use Gthumb to import from the device the source is greyed out, it doesn't even show my external hard drive, but if I use lsusb in the terminal it shows every USB device connected to the computer. So how do I get Volume back and what else do I need to do to access the phone?
Hi Folks,
New to Linux Lite and really like the distro! I have tried a number of distros in the past several months and have really been impressed with many of them but Linux Lite is where I would like to settle.
I have tried to install the 64 bit on my HP laptop using the options for LVM and Encryption. In doing so, the installer crashed several times with error. It says: "Autopartitioning using LVM failed because an error occurred while creating the volume group."
The main question I have is if LVM and Encryption are supported with the distro. If so, is there something I'm doing wrong? Before each failed attempt I have run GParted and created a new partition table using my entire hard drive. I have then formatted it to a FAT32 partition then ran the installer. In using the same practice installing Mint 17 there were no glitches.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!!!!
Hi,
I've just installed LL 2.2 on an HP 6910p laptop. When I play videos on Youtube or go to Google Inbox,the webpage will become unresponsive after a while and then the screen will go blank. The only way I know to get the screen back on is to do a hard reset. The video card in the laptop is an Intel X3100. I have tried disabling the screen saver but this hasn't had any effect.
Has anyone else experienced this or know how to cure the problem. I have noticed that the screen flickers occasionally so I think it may be a driver problem. I am very new to Linux so if any logs or versions that are needed then I will need some direction of where or how to find them
Thanks.
I have an 80GB external drive (usb connected). I figured I would use the backup in LL 2.2 to back-up my Home Folder. It all seems fine, starts, then I get this message:
Permission denied when trying to create ‘/media/chris/259e8ba4-8c54-43ad-9dc0-2a1ed024910e/duplicity-full.20150103T150825Z.vol1.difftar.gz’.
I did some on-line research and found this:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/324705/fi...ion-denied
Which seems like an identical issue; so I used the commands given in this thread (with chris instead of "stacyjane") and still no dice, same message. Any ideas?
Chris
Hello all,
I am very much still a beginner in the Linux world although I have played with it in the past. I've got LL installed on an HP Compaq 6910p laptop and I am having a couple of snags. I will post them here but I know it's not the correct place so where should I post them?
Firstly when I go to Youtube or Google Inbox the browser (Google Chrome) will freeze and then soon after the screen will go blank/turn off.
When the computer screen comes back on from being left I am unable to type in any windows open. For example, if Chrome is open I have to shut it down and reopen it in order to type in a URL.
There are problems going into hibernation.
I've updated the Intel graphics drivers using the software found at https://01.org/linuxgraphics/downloads/2...inux-1.0.7
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
JukeUK
As we all know, or at least have heard about, the mass surveillance by the NSA going on in the United States, and possibly tracking users in other countries. The NSA operates and depends on Executive Order #12333 in the United States.

Quote:The NSA relies on Executive Order 12333 to engage in mass surveillance of people around the world. But most people have never even heard of this presidential order. It’s time to respect the privacy rights of innocent people, regardless of their nationality. Tell Obama: amend Executive Order 12333 to prohibit mass surveillance.
Quote:Executive orders are legally binding orders given by the President of the United States which direct how government agencies should operate. Executive Order 12333 covers "most of what the NSA does" and is "the primary authority under which the country’s intelligence agencies conduct the majority of their operations."1 So while the U.S. Congress is considering bills to curtail mass telephone surveillance, the NSA’s primary surveillance authority will be left unchallenged.
It’s time to change that.

Found this when fooling around the net months ago .
Find it interesting . From an XPad commands reminders I did in Terminal ; .
apt-fast ppa ;
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install apt-fast
