  [SOLVED] Linux Lite Won't Run
Posted by: stafroz - 02-04-2015, 03:52 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (14)

Hello,

I have Acer Aspire V5-471G with partition:
1. windows recovery
2 & 3: root and home for LinuxLite
4: Extended partition
4.1: swap partition
4.2.1 & 4.2.2: Fedora root and home partition
4.3.1 & 4.3.2: Voyager root and home partition.

I installed the iso into USB using the dd command followed the LinuxLite manual. The USB live working great except when I open gparted there's warning Libparted bugs found (recursive partition) on the USB.

Then I installed LinuxLite to that partition2. The installation went finish. I restarted my laptop but it won't run LinuxLite with
error: failure reading sector 0x239d18 from hd0.

Could you help me?  thanks.

  Problem with browser Firefox
Posted by: Boschini - 02-04-2015, 03:28 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (6)

Hi, Im having the following issue. I have Linux Lite intalled in my computer and everything works fine. The only problem I got is, when start Mozilla Firefox, it tries  to connect to any website (I set www.google.com as "Home") and keeps trying and trying and at the end says it could not connect to any server. The weird thing is, I open the terminal and when I ping any website, it pings perfectly (what means I have internet connection). What can be the problem? Any idea why this is happening? What settings should be set in the browser to work properly?

Please help. I have tried anything and nothing seems to work.

Thanks,

Alberto

  [SOLVED] Log file error
Posted by: LL-user - 02-03-2015, 09:06 PM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (4)

Hi,

My first post here. I'm just setting up my first production machine with Linux Lite after testing it for quite some time. Congrats and BIG THANKS to the developers for such an outstanding distribution!

I just run into the problem that syslog is not logging, a topic that has been brought up in this post:
https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/index...#msg5233By t

I'm a bit confused that such a fundamental issue has not been fixed before the release!? With this issue obviously even the provided Log File Viewer is not working.

May I please ask for clarification and whether the developers don't consider a working log file mechanism an important part of the system?

As the OP of the post above I'd be very keen on using LL in the future in production environments and as recommendation to customers/ users.

Thanks for your efforts!

Is there such a thing as a Wifi  pc monitor, i.e no need for HDMI or scart cables etc. i.e something like a chromcast dongle ?

Have seen  latest linux mint box  or even Pi2 -  If you can have Wireless mouse  & keyboard, why not complete the process with wireless Monitor/display?

[SOLVED] LL2.2 Running from a USB stick only?
Posted by: newtusmaximus - 02-03-2015, 01:08 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (20)

Is there a way to run LL2.2 from a USB stick  instead of installing -  Not as a Live  presence , but as an alternative to installing on a hard Drive.  Purpose  to run totally independently from the PC/laptop/    With USB sticks now 64GB+, is there any need to install - i.e. just take  the pre-installed stick (with OS & work files etc.) around with you and assuming you can get boot priority to USB, work on any pc/laptop at hand.

I can do this with puppy linux, but puppy limited to PETS etc.  i.e not so convenient.
Thanks.

  Introducing LiteCloud

As part of an effort to look for ways to fund the project, I'd like to gauge the communities reaction to whether or not they would sponsor the project this way.

LiteCloud is built off Owncloud and is available on all mobile and pc platforms, Android, iOS, Windows, Mac and Linux. LiteCLoud is extremely flexible, you can edit documents from inside the browser, use it together with Dropbox or Google Drive, as well as many other useful features. There would be a limited number of accounts so as to ensure top performance for everyone. Please mention what type of plan you would be interested in.

  Evince can't search in pdf
Posted by: onemansubmarine - 02-02-2015, 08:06 PM - Forum: Other - No Replies

Hello Folks,

I have a problem with Evince and apparently poppler, since I can't search pdfs created by pdfLaTeX. With other pdfs it works perfectly fine. I searched a little in the net and some suggested to upgrade the libpoppler44 as it might be outdated. However, libpoppler can't be updated in the repo because it is already the newest version!

my Evince Version: 3.10.3
libpoppler44 Verion: 0.24.5

Both came as default in linux lite 2.2

What do you think?

best

Been using linux for several years and have tried a bunch of the distros. I'm a "user" and usually lean towards the distros marked for "beginners'. I've installed Lite on an old Dell Inspiron 530 and so far I'm finding it easier to use that a lot of those listed in the "beginners" section.
We'll run it for awhile and see what happens. First look..... I'm liking what I see.
