Forum: Installing Linux Lite
- Replies (21)

When I install Linux Lite on the same computer as my 2 other Linux distros, Linux Lite is not accessable from the same grub boot screen.
Let me explain....
I have a Manjaro distro and a Debian distro on the same computer. I installed Linux lite and all went well. When I rebooted the grub screen indicated all 3 distros on the boot list. When I select Linux Lite, it gives me a console screen where it says file not found, press any key. When I press a key it takes me back to the grub screen. The other 2 distros boot fine. The only way I can access Linux Lite is to go into the bios and select the LL partition from the boot list. LL then boots fine.
Is there a way to fix this where I can access LL from my main grub boot screen along with the other 2 distros?
All distros are installed legacy, not UEFI.
Thanks!

Len

did an update today and noticed this: lite-controlcenter (1.0-0200-linuxlite) over (1.0-0190-linuxlite)

Just wondering what the changes were. Thanks!

HI
I am wondering if there are    instructions, on the internet,  as regards the installtion  of openoffice 4.1.2  specific  to Linux Lite 2.6.? Following some existent ones did not help at all; and also the removal of Libre office is not completely  executed.
Thanks a lot

As the topic says basically after I login lightdm remains visible as a regular Window "form" with a close button. I basically have to kill it to make it go away.

A side note to the install of LL 2.6 on my Dell Latitude E6410:

After a successful install of LL I decided to try the NVIDIA video drivers offered as options under Hardware Drivers. There were four NVIDIA drivers listed, two for version 340.96 and two for version 304.131.  I tried one of each and in each case got strange behaviour on startup:

  - The feather boot screen was replaced by a text version "Linux Lite 2.6" with dots below it
  - My desktop background was replaced by the xfce mouse one
  - The window font sizes changed
  - The line for "temp1" went missing in the output for the sensors command (which I use in conky)

During boot I saw error messages flash by (stuff about udev and systemd).

I changed back to the Linux Xorg driver and all returned to normal, so this is not a big problem for me, but I thought I should report it.

My E6410 has a 1440 x 900 screen and lspci gives:  VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT218M [NVS 3100M] (rev a2)

For what it's worth.

Hi

I had a premature shut down ( see other post ) which resulted in AbiWord closing and a Letter that I was preparing for over an hour was lost .

But as AbiWord is set up to Auto save every 5 mins its not a calamity .
So all I need is to get it back .>>>>but how ??

Could not find a an option in ABI programs own  Menu's

Tried Help > help contents >search >got "The AbiWord website can be searched )  > No "Search " option available

Tried Twiki > searched for Auto Save & Autosave with similar outcomes

Tried Googling - it is a known issue but unable to find a Solved post

All I gleaned was the Auto Saves were a .BAK file  in a Hidden folder  without a known place it might be searched for .

I tried a Catfish Search of my "File System " for .BAK  but the results did not include any from AbiWord
Then  searched for ABI found the file of my letter I saved as a named file soon after I started a New Document .

Can anyone help me (hopefully intact ) where ABI put its files .

What is the sense of having an Auto Save feature that is not easily accessible when disaster strikes

has anyone had LL power down without warning and a solution

The Power Settings are set to "Ask" when the battery level reaches 15%  but it switches off instead - lost work - posted a problem with AbiWord Auto save

I am new to this system, as I had just installed yesterday Linux Lite2.2 32bit; and today upgraded it to the latest version(2.6). The problem I have , with both versions, is that whenever  I click on Firefox, chrome or help, the  computer gets frozen and paralyzed completely; however, the wire internet connection is on. I had to restart over and over again for so many  times (during these days) in vain.  Before sending my comment, I searched y'r site and also  googled  and    nothing there. The OS is installed on a separate HD, with Windows 7 starter  on the other one. Desperately asking for help, appreciating any  input to the effect.

Thanks a lot
