I've been a PC user since the 5150, and PCDOS 1.0. Been a Windows guy most of the time. I spent 20 years in corporate IT. I dabbled in Ubuntu/Linux Mint for a while around the time Windows Vista came out. After Win 8/10 it was finally time to bail on Windows. I've DL'd and tried most of the popular distros and now I think I've found the best one for me - Lite 2.8. Thanks to Jerry and everyone who contributed to such a great OS.
i'm just done with my prior inquiries on remote connection, and here i am again asking help if there are GUI windows for IPv4 connection settings, as well, proxy settings in Linux Lite :-\
i mean i'm more expose to Ubuntu in which if i add proxy, i just go to this window:

and if i put static IP or DNS, i also go on these window:

likewise, hoping also you can share the command lines both for IPv4 connection settings and proxy if i go or use to the terminal :-[
The webcam software in Lite Software is not working on this netbook. I am running LL 2.8 32 bit. It worked well in 2.6, but now it doesn't show anything from the camera, just a black window. I tried reinstalling the software, but that did nothing. I used lsusb and my camera show up as: Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0c45:62c0 Microdia Sonix USB 2.0 Camera. I have uninstalled the software, and installed camorama in its place and everything works fine. Just thought the development team should be aware.
A little more info, the camorama software only supports still captures not video.
Hello LL community. I am happily running LL 2.8 on my main laptop and it is running very fast. I would be looking forward to contributing in any way as I can. ;D ;D
It's that time again. It's your feedback that steers this distro in a progressive direction. Please remember to only include ideas that have both wide appeal and a sense of familiarity to Windows users eg. no Terminal stuff, ease of use, 'granny proof'.
If you have previously made a suggestion and it has not made it into other versions of Linux Lite, please do not make the suggestion again, I look at all the posts made and carefully weigh up their pros/cons. Your suggestions are appreciated, but like Linus once said...
Quote:I’d like to know what features most people would want. Any suggestions
are welcome, but I won’t promise I’ll implement them.
Really looking forward to all of your suggestions
So far:
- New login screen (no more lightdm-webkit)
- Possible inclusion of Gnome Software (a software center).
- Looking at adding Ubuntu Extras by default (seems to have codecs people are use to on Windows ootb)
- Folders accessible from Menu - https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/sugge...-the-menu/

8secs to open and edit this
"SEEMS TO BE WORKING"

LL will not shutdown after selecting Shutdown.......It justs restarts.....I have to turn off the electric before it has a chance to reboot. Even the 2.8 update does this on my computer.

I selected English on the install but picked Mexico City for the time zone .... I guess it thought the calendar should be in Spanish but I don't read Spanish. I can't find a place to change the language in the date/time properties.
Thanks for any info. I installed using LL 2.6 Then updated to 2.8 but that didn't fix the problem.

Should Linux Lite 3.x series have an Anti Virus bundled?
I ask this because this OS aims to meet the expectations of Windows users. You're welcome to have your say.
Thank you for participating
Jerry
