Hello everyone is there any way to customize the lock screen for Linux lite? I have been looking in setting and can't seem to find anything to help accomplish this. I'm running Linux lite 3.0
Thanks so much
I just wanted to stop by and say hello to everyone this is my first time here and I hope to learn all I can about Linux lite
I run a number of distributions of Linux including Ubuntu and Linux Lite & Korora and Ubuntu Mate
There really is no limit on learning so I will be browsing and probable asking a lot of questions also

Somehow, I've lost the top header on Thunderbird. This is the one that has the maximize/minimize/exit icons. Not sure what I did so I'm not sure how to fix it. I keep the taskbar hidden. I can't pull the taskbar up when I run my cursor to the bottom of the screen like I can with any other window open.
I feel stupid asking but can someone sort this, please?
Thanks.

I just upgraded a friend's machine from LL 2.4 to 3.0. It's a dual boot with Win7, which occupies the front of the HDD.
Now that the upgrade is done, I realize I should have wiped the HDD, forgotten about Win7, and installed LL at the front of the drive, for maximum performance.
I suppose I could use clonezilla to capture the LL install, then move it to the front of the drive, and maybe move the Swap partition as well. But what then would be the best way to reinstall Grub2?
So far I've come across a boot-repair disk, which looks promising, and also some command line stuff via the linux live disk. Any help would be appreciated.
Dear all,
After a clean install, I have installed some apps etc. But now my issue is there is an ugly shadow effect on the desktop item texts (https://www.dropbox.com/s/9bwhk7shzlh5ge...3.png?dl=0).
I've changed the .gtkrc-2.0 file as described in http://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfdesktop/tree/README, but probably I am doing smt wrong, because these shadows came into life before I modify this file.
Please help me to solve it, don't want to reinstall everything.
Thanks in advance,
Bora
Is there a way to implement right click network sharing
So I can share a linux folder to a windows PC simply by right clicking on the folder in Linux lite selecting to share it and having samba work
I have looked at the manual and I would prefer not to edit the file manually to add shares nor use nitroshare I was hoping for something built into the distro I can just enable this
Just a quick question.
When upgrading from LL2.8 to 3.0, can I keep the '/home' partition (to preserve configuration files) or should I do a complete clean install, i.e. delete the old '/home' under LL2.8 and install a new one under LL3.0? I don't know if this makes any difference, but maybe I should mention this LL2.8 set-up was installed on a PC in CMS mode and was not installed with UEFI.
Many thanks in advance for your feedback.
Mike
Dear all,
I was using cinnamon desktop on Mint. However I decided to try Linux Lite, but did not wipe out the home directory. After I install Lite, all the shiny desktop is gone and left my desktop to the standard xfce desktop. It must be because of some conf files.
Do you have any suggestion that how can I revert the settings to the polished beautiful Lite desktop without wiping out the home folder?
Thanks in advance,
Bora
I get this error (see subject) when attempting to update using Linux Lite Updates about halfway through the download.
I've got this same error in two different distributions...both v2.8 (first) and then again in v2.8. I was going to update the v2.6 to version v2.8 but at the patch level currently installed (Linux 3.13.0-62-generic Software Updates: Last updated on 2015-10-31 time to update) the update program did not recognize the existence of a newer version of Linux Lite. I proceeded to run the Linux Lite Updates to get to a point from where I could upgrade and ended up with the same error.
Desktop icons have white fonts on dark backgrounds any idea?
