Using (lsb_release -a)(Laptop B(Host))
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:    Linux Lite 4.2
Release:        18.04
Codename:      bionic

So, i have laptop A (windows 10) & Laptop B (Linux Lite 4.2), in addition, Laptop B has 2 "VirtualBox" VM's
VM[1] Linux Lite 4.2 (same as HOST)
VM[2] Distributor ID: Ubuntu {Description: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS} {Release: 18.04} {Codename: bionic}

Both Laptop A & Laptop B have a USB 3.0 port...
using the above mentioned port, there is connected a TP-LINK-UE300 (USB to Gigabit Ethernet) on both ends & using a cable CAT 5e

anything going through (either of) the TP-LINK-UE300 has segregated IPv4 traffic on 192.168.168.X
Laptop-[A][IPv4]192.168.168.2  [SUBNET]/24  [GATEWAY]NULL
Laptop-[.B][IPv4]192.168.168.1  [SUBNET]/24  [GATEWAY]NULL
Laptop-[.B]-VM-[1][IPv4]192.168.168.5  [SUBNET]/24  [GATEWAY]NULL
Laptop-[.B]-VM-[2][IPv4]192.168.168.247  [SUBNET]/24  [GATEWAY]NULL (Installed 27-DEC-2018@2230H)

Using IPERF3
Laptop-[A] iperf3 -s
* the rest apply as iperf3 -c 192.168.168.2

Results
[R.1] Laptop-[.B]--TO--Laptop-[A]=944 Mbits/sec
[R.2] Laptop-[.B]-VM-[1]--TO--Laptop-[A]=466 Mbits/sec (and several Retr at times..)
[R.3] Laptop-[.B]-VM-[2]--TO--Laptop-[A]=947 Mbits/sec

So in my opinion the above tests rule out any problems with virtualbox

and i tested also with mikirotik routeros as a VM (using its own bandwidth testing feature) and i obtained circa 400 Mbits/sec

before & after testing all this i used "make clean" & "make" & all the installation procedure for the r8152-2.10.0 driver

but i got same results

Can anyone help with some kind of fix pls ?

*had to make ".B" due to bold

New laptop works great with LL except touchpad
Posted by: icedigger - 12-28-2018, 01:32 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (3)

So I bought a used Alienware 13 r2 today and installed LL uefi edition.  The legacy edition would not install.

Everything works great on it except the touchpad.  Very oddball issue.

I can use the touchpad perfectly fine, tapping to click on things etc... The problem occurs when I want to use the actually 2 physically click buttons at the bottom, right and left.  As soon as I click on them its almost like its in an infinite loop of just holding down that right or left mouse button.

I can get out of it by restarting the computer but I can't click on anything.

The weirdest thing.  Even on the OLED touchscreen I can't do anything anymore.  A restart is the only thing that fixes it.

If I install windows everything works great.

System specs:
Intel i7 6500u, 16gb ram, nvidia 965 gtx, 1x 512GB PCIE NVME drive, 1x 1TB PCIE NVME drive, 13" OLED Touchscreen

repo.linuxliteos.com inaccessible - connection times out

Hi all,

I am installing Linux Lite 4.2 as a fresh installation and also as a routine update on an existing PC but can't complete the software update as the repo appears to be offline or inaccessible. The internet connection is ok and I can retrieve updates from other sources.

Has anybody else had problems? I can't find references to any scheduled outages - but then I am new here  Wink

Linux Lite moving from Sourceforge to OSDN
Posted by: valtam - 12-26-2018, 07:48 PM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (11)

I am pleased to announce that after a period of mutually successful negotiation with the CEO of OSDN, Linux Lite has moved our ISO download mirrors from Sourceforge to OSDN. I just tested a download and got over 55mb/sec on my Fiber connection.

https://osdn.net/projects/linuxlite/

I was approached by them in an email and initially thought, this is just another hosting company looking for some familiar names to bolster their site, but there was more to it.

They have a unique revenue sharing approach that rewards developers based on how many downloads they get. There is no cap, so the sky is the limit. Initially, the cap was too high and out of reach, even for a project like ours. I made a case for this, and the CEO who seems very reasonable, adjusted their scale accordingly. We now have in place, a fair and equitable revenue sharing scale.

This is huge news for both parties involved and for our respective communities and will get us a step closer to working on this project full time which has been my dream since the start.

As far as I can tell the:

PROS:

- Worldwide, extremely fast mirrors.
- Other big Projects like Android-x86, Clonezilla and Manjaro have moved to OSDN.
- Equitable revenue sharing based on number of downloads per month.

CONS:

- Moving to a smaller, lesser known company is a risk.

The Sourceforge links will remain as there is no way to predict the future, and in all fairness they have been good to us and we have a long history going back to hosting our very first release with them. I know the anit-SF people will feel vindicated and happy now that we're off SF, but to be fair, nothing they did hurt us, it was the software creators that had adware added to their installers, our ISO's remained untouched.

[member=7250]kissbaby3[/member] enjoy your new found fame!

I've posted your latest video (Webcamoid) on our Social Media pages.

Perhaps this is a good time to ask, how many men here have female relatives, partners or wives that use Linux full time now? How many women already using Linux have brought female friends over to Linux?

How to put 'My Computer' on Desktop?
Posted by: Hannes22 - 12-23-2018, 09:24 AM - Forum: Desktop Customization - Replies (5)

Hello - and Greetings from Germany!

I just installed Linux Lite 4.2 on my machine and would like to know, how to put a 'My Computer' Icon / Shortcut on the desktop.

Any hint is much appreciated.

Regards!

Hannes

(There used to be icons on the desktop ('My computer', 'Recicle Bin', 'Home Folder') right after a fresh install, but after some costumization, they have been vanished out of a sudden ...)

  updating non-repo software?

I have installed Brave and XMind directly from their sites. Am I right to assume updates for these will not be included in "Install Updates"?
