Hi again.. When I click on log out icon at the bottom right of the menu it use to bring up another window with options like suspend, hibernate, log out and shutdown. Now when I click on log out it starts Skype! How do I fix this? In main Menu, the menu editor there is no way of editing the properties of these icons?

LL 4.6 on Toshiba Tecra - Fan control
Posted by: UltraCookie - 10-13-2019, 05:43 PM - Forum: On Topic - No Replies

Hi,
I just installed Linux Lite on an old Toshiba Tecra laptop my dad got from his work. It will be used in my moms office mainly for organizing appointments so it will probably only run Google Calendar on FireFox (no need for any Win only Software). During the live boot and installation the fan was running on full speed. I thought it was due to the fan control not working properly in live mode. Once installed the fans did not slow down. After googling a bit I found this post on the Linux Mint forums. Following the instructions fan speed went to normal. Other than that the system runs nice and smooth.

Too many years on Windows machines and this Linuxlite is not easy for me to figure out.
Managed to get a network connection working as a hotspot to my mobile phone but for some reason I can't get my web browser Mozilla or Thunderbird connect using this internet connection.
All help will be greatly appreciated.

Stuck loading kernel 4.15.0-51 (4.15.0-65 installed)
Posted by: Xorcist - 10-13-2019, 01:37 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (3)

Not sure how I got into this situation, but when grub loads up it shows I'm auto loading 4.15.0-51, I installed the 4.15.0-65 kernel via apt-get, but I can't figure out how to make it active. Can anyone lend me a hand. I'm not super familiar with grub, and was actually surprised to see it, as I'm used to just loading directly into Linux Lite. I have confirmed with uname that kernel 4.15.0-51 is presently the active kernel.

Не запускается Linux Lite при извлеченном диске
Posted by: Webenot - 10-12-2019, 11:55 AM - Forum: Other - No Replies

При установке Linux у меня стоял второй HDD, который я извлек, после чего система перестала стартовать. При запуске системы просит нажать Control+D и постоянно повторяется.

Причина: установлена галочка на чекбоксе "Подключать при запуске системы" в утилите Gnome-Disks.
Задача: Добавить проверку наличия диска, прежде чем пытаться его монтировать. Иначе не запускается!

I have about 90 systems, from windows 95 to windows 10, a apple section, and a linux section.
At 72 this keeps me busy. I like strange cases and strange software. I can fix or update a case easy but do not understand software easy.

  password managers
Posted by: mangurian - 10-12-2019, 12:20 AM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (2)

I am a new user.
Are there any password managers that integrate with a browser?  Under Windows, I had ROBOFORM which pops up and fills in user names and passwords.  Anything like that ?
