Hello,
It's my first and post, I've just installed linux lite and am having trouble setting up wi-fi connection. OS is installed on PC with Belkin RTL8187B USB WiFi Adapter connected /it's recognised in lsusb/ and in network options I have 'wireless is disabled by hardware switch' info. I've tried rfkill unblock all, reseting bios to default, none of which worked for me. rfkill list shows up Soft blocked: no and hard blocked: yes. Please I'd appreciate any help I just need Linux for Chrome browsing after my XP lost it's support.

Another Cairo problem is that the netspeed applet won't connect to the internet port. I checked system info, and found eth0, and entered that into the applet config, but to no avail. What am I missing?
Thanks in advance.

(Solved) New Install Won't Composite

Once I got Lite up and running, I moved the tool bar to the top and then installed Cairo-Dock. However, it's framed by a very large black box. When a dialog box opened asking if I wanted to enable compositing, I clicked on the green check, but then the dock went away. I checked the Compiz icon, but compositing is turned on. It's also turned on in the Cairo-Dock control panel. I'm using an old nVidia 5200 video card. Does that card not have enough horsepower to composite, or ???
Thanks in advance.

How to Run a Command at Every Bootup?

Somewhat of a general question, using LinuxLite and want to have a command executed when ever the system boots. It's not a "root command", does not need sudo when I do it from the terminal. From my memory since I'm not at that computer the command is:
djmount /home/linuxlite/av
it just connects to a Upnp server and gets the media. Be nice if it did that at boot. How to do this automatically at boot?
Thanks.

No Desktop on New Install - Bug in ISO?

I just installed Linux Lite 1.08 on an older AMD Sempron machine (AMD64). After the install completed, the system would only boot into a tty screen. After a quick search, I found:
https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/index...361#msg361
and proceeded to follow the command line entries. I first ran:
sudo service lightdm stop
and the system told me there was no such instance. So I ran:
sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia-*
and that ran fine. I moved on to:
sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf
but was told there was no such file. I finally ran:
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current && sudo reboot
and the desktop came up fine. But I'm not sure a real newbie could figure this one out. Bug in the iso?

Hi,
LL 1.06. I installed Nautilus file manager. I then go into settings>preferred applications>Utilities and change from Thunar to Nautilus. But it seems like Thunar is still used by default. I'll open up a mounted USB drive and it's thunar, everything seems to user thunar still. Tried rebooting but still's the same. Wondered if anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

I'll be using LL 1.06 or 1.08 and the mouse arrow cursor will turn into a crosshair and the desktop will seem frozen. I found that if I do Alt-Tab and cycle to any open window that fixes it and the arrow and normal operation is back. But it's annoying. I wondered if anyone knows what causes it? Thanks.

After downloading Linux Lite, I followed the procedures to install drivers from the help manual. The screen "No Proprietary Drivers...." came up completely blank. Does this mean I have no driver updates to worry about?

The Lite Software Center only has an older version of LibreOffice. I uninstalled it and then downloaded the latest version (4.2.3) from LibreOffice web site. Used the Unzip/Compression utility to unpack it on my desktop. How do I go about installing this software?

Greetings from New Jersey, USA. I admit that I am new to this whole Linux thing. This is why I chose Linux Lite. When I first installed it and started playing with it, I loved it. Then I ran into problems. The first was with WiFi. But that one fixed itself after sitting idle for a couple of weeks. l still am having problems with the dual boot thing, but I'll take that over to that forum. Thanks to all for your help. Peace out.
