Posted by: dbrew4 - 04-14-2014, 05:10 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (2)

I'm using a Gateway laptop, Pentium 4 processor, 1G ram. I installed Linux Lite 1.0.8 and everything seems to be working fine EXCEPT......when I open the LXTerminal to install updates, software, etc. it asked for my password. No matter what key I press it doesn't recognize the keyboard and continues to flash. Help...NEWBIE!!!

  Install/Remove software
Posted by: Sareg6050537188 - 04-14-2014, 12:41 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (2)

I am fairly new to Linux, and more specifically Linux-Lite, so I am not sure if this is the way it's supposed to be. In the systems section off the main menu, there is no install/remove  part to the menu. The reason for this inquiry is that I am trying to install programs and are unable to do so.

  Question About Snapping Horizontally
Posted by: SweetAction22 - 04-13-2014, 09:59 PM - Forum: Scripting and Bash - Replies (5)

Hello,
I wasn't sure where to post this question, so let me know if this is the wrong place.

My question is this... One thing I miss about Windows xp was the ability to snap(?), or position, open windows horizontally or vertically and give each window equal room.  (Don't know if snap is the right word).  It was a simple two click process, and no dragging.  It did it automatically.

Is there a command I could create that would do this same thing?

  Google Earth Video driver problem
Posted by: newtusmaximus - 04-13-2014, 09:45 AM - Forum: Installing Software - No Replies

Toshiba Sat Pro A10 , 2 x 512mb RAM - Video card Intel 82852/855 GM integrated graphics VGA currently at 1024 x 768.

Google earth download from website (32 bit Deb) and installed OK, however on start up says graphics card unsuitable.
Previously on this machine, when running puppy linux  precise 5.7.1 I have been able to use Xorg wizard to update driver so that GE works with no problems.

As a LL 1.09  and linux newbie, how do I do that now.  Thank you

Can't access Windows Vista - boot menu
Posted by: parvind - 04-13-2014, 03:21 AM - Forum: Start up and Shutdown - Replies (5)

Hello,
I have windows vista and in a rush I installed Linux Lite while running ISO from CD and created partition following the instructions.

Now, I don't know how to access Windows Vista as I did not do backup. I chose "add this OS in addition to existing" while installing. So for sure, Vista is not deleted.

I installed Grub Customizer and customized to see other operating system, but I don't see Windows Vista in the list. Any help is sincerely appreciated.

Thanks,
Arvind

  Trying to connect Epson printer
Posted by: Bromax2 - 04-12-2014, 06:19 PM - Forum: Printing and Scanning - Replies (11)

I am trying to connect my Epson "Small-in-one" printer. I went to http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Epso...410_Series and tried to download x86 32 bit: 1.0.0 (DEB for LSB 3.2), which I am assuming is the right package, but cannot get a connection, I could, however, open the install instructions, (Not sure I understand about "Installing the LSB package" first) but regardless, ll can't do the download. Any suggestions?

  Hello From England
Posted by: newtusmaximus - 04-12-2014, 11:05 AM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (2)

Just found Linux lite. Have old Toshiba Satellite pro A10 with 2 x 512mb Ram. that needs to keep working!! Trying linuxlite 1.08 as live CD.  Currently running puppy linux precise 5.7.1 frugal on it.

Still fumbling my way around Linux. Currently running Mint 13 on work laptop.

Well worth the learning curve to be free of rampant commercialisation in now what is becoming essential access to information - i.e the internet.  Also the improved security against viruses etc.

Good luck with the linuxlite project for a more straight forward and backwards compatible flavour of linux.

Showing but not working in Window Manager and messed up other themes. How do I uninstall it?
