When starting xfburn the message "Failed to initialise Gstreamer encoder. Falling back to basic implementation" appears then it starts ok. I have tried installing Gstreamer components from Synaptic but it does not solve the problem. I have used xfburn on other distros with xfce desktop with no problems.
I normally use Conky with the option "own_window_type desktop". This works fine and appears on all workspaces but disappears immediately I click on the desktop. If I comment out this option and default to the conky window then it will not disappear but it must be loaded on each workspace individually.
I suspect this is not a Lite issue but a feature of xfce as it works fine in other distros using Gnome or Cinnamon desktops.
At end of install I was displaying details of files and saw message in terminal "Source ID44234 was not found when attempting to remove glib.source_removal.rows_changed...". Then a message box "Error. You may have to re-install software".
Then the system locked up with no message to remove installation device so I did a manual reset and the new install booted ok.
1. Set Calculator Hotkey to Galculator. I know it can be setup but setting it as default would be nice.
2. Make login screen lighter to fit in with default theme. Currently the black screen is not very welcoming.
3. Make default installation similar to Live ISO. My live ISO had panel at the bottom, welcome screen, wallpaper and attractive fonts. The full install had the panel at the top, no welcome screen, no wallpaper and spidery fonts. Booting the live ISO was impressive but I felt very disappointed when booting into the full install for the first time.
I love to test and review new Distro Releases and compare them to my default Mint LMDE. I was really happy with Lite because it was not a bloated download. You made a good choice of essential apps while leaving users to install their own preferences. The simple thing that impressed me initially was the light theme. Most new distros seem obsessed with black themes and grey fonts and some don't even give you a light choice. I appreciate this is a beta version so will try and help by posting any problems I found. I won't issue a list but post each problem individually as I'm sure this will be easier for you to keep track.
Congratulations to all involved
i have not built a pc since i was a kid, but i'm out of work and on a hp with a bad pws/graphics or worse. i had replace all the ram and issue returns crashing during video. so what i build i basically want to work for 10+ years, i don't game, and i use LL2.0 even on my new laptop with ddr3 ram and plan it to be my main os on anything new. so i rather not spend money on a windows i tried tons of distributions and LL 2.0 is my favorite so even if i get a pc faster than current i plan to keep this os as the main os no doubt. Linux Lite saved me from XP and i really could not think of anything i dislike about it, i'm not into flashy os's i even pass on zorin and ubuntu ect. great job and thanks to creators of Linux Lite 2.0, it's the perfect OS and i have got many to get off xp with it happily. took me an hour to get used to and never look back!
back to my question, what is a good reliable motherboard for LL2.0 looking for highest quality but does not need to be super fast i am currently happy with 3.0 dual core but would not mind being able to get more than the 4gigs of ram i max out with now. any suggestions? would you recommend me buying refurbished and hope it works with linux? or building personally? the most important thing is that it works with LL so i'm scared to buy something with any windows...
starting with 1.0 this os opened my eyes.
thanks, if you guys think referbished cheap computer is better idea let me know which is known to work with LL i am trying to save a little money for cyber monday if the deals are real... if anyone took the time to read this and reply, thanks a lot.

VOTE FOR second choice TODAY !!!!!

ITs your VOTE that can change or add things, that will make it better, Faster, Lighter,
and a second option.

If this is truelly a Priced distro as people and I think and follow it as fans,
Why not give us alternative REAL Lighter OS ? LXDE does everything one needs
and is pretty easy, I am total noob to linux that switched from windows,
but take it from me, LXDE is easy to use and configure !
Also, I know a good thing when I see it !
Why not give us a choice for a true Lite Linux ???
XFCE is nice an all but is still not considered lite enough
for this kind of ideals as Linux lite is saying is trying to accomplish,
it can only compete with Gnome and KDE as being lighter. There is
LXDE and E17
[P.S e17 is kinda wierd though, and harder to use]
unlike e17, its just so usable, even Mint linux realized it and use it
for their Debian remix distro !
Give us a second choice please !? New second .iso with it
as most others do it or preinstall it with same iso shipped with xfce!
=================================================
Linux Lite needs to wake up too. Get on the horse and see what LXDE
can really accomplish, before you discard this awesome DE from your ideals/plans.

=====LXDE========
What it IS: A full blowned, easy
to work with, fully featured DE
But lighter and faster than the
others; gnome, kde or xfce
What it is NOT: Cut down, hard to configure,
Missing features, slimmed DE
Good evening,
One small issue that I have when I install Linux Lite, is related to the system language.
During installation I choose the language that I want (portuguese in my case), but after rebooting and in the first login, the system is in english.
I know I can change that in Settings > Regional settings, but the problem is that a big part of the system remains in english, like all folders inside of the home folder, some programs, etc., after I changed the Regional Settings.
This doens't occur in other distributions like Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, etc.
In my opinion, the system should be in the language thar we choosed at the first login,.
Best regatds
I'd like to see what music players people are using in the community on Linux Lite. If I've missed any please let me know and I'll add them here.

Sometime over night, my computer rebooted (that's another thread already started). Until now, I'd get a black screen. Today, I got some sort of gray screen with an icon dead center (I didn't notice what it was) and 3 icons at the bottom (shut down, restart and something else). I didn't like those options so I hit the unlabled icon in the center and got a password prompt. (I've always had things set so I didn't need to enter my password.) Entered my password and everything came back up as normal (although it was obvious the computer had rebooted since my previously opened FF tabs had to be restored...not a big deal). I don't think I've changed any settings but I did update the other day.
I looked at https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/index...opic=942.0 this thread and https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/index...opic=711.0 this one but not sure they apply. Neither mention this odd (new) splash screen.
Any thoughts? I wasn't able to take a screenshot as it doesn't appear I was logged on.
EDIT: I just rebooted and it looks like I have the same problem that a couple others are having in the 2nd link I posted. I'll continue this there.
