...instead of using xdg-open or whatever it uses to pick an application for an unknown file. This happens also when opening a directory from another application (eg, opening my downloads folder from firefox)
It will open a terminal with the Linux Lite updates script. Looking in the task manager, it just creates the command "updates /home/bugzee/foo/bar/filename"
I tried sudo rm /usr/scripts/updates, now it opens a terminal with nothing in it.
I tried making /usr/scripts/updates into
Code: #!/bin/bash
xdg-open $1
and now it won't even open the terminal, it just changes the cursor to 'waiting' icon for a few seconds and stops.
How do I get my normal unknown file handling back?
This happened after an apt-get upgrade a few months ago. I'm using LL 2.0 Beryl.

I needed to install flash player with sudo. But when i go to download it it asks for a sudo password. I don't remember setting one and can't install flash without it. I've tried to reset the password, but it asks for the current password to do that. So... I need help.

I am completely new to Lunix so please bare with me. I have taken an 2007ish Dell Inspiron 640M and loaded linux lite on it for use as a computer to hook up and leave with our TV. So far loving Linux Lite - easy install and easy setup for everything I need this to be able to do except I can't get it to come out of "Suspend" using the power button on the external keyboard, it comes out of suspend fine using the power on the actual laptop. I have gone into the Bios and updated it to enable wakeup via USB but this didn't fix it, I assume there must be additional configuration but have been unable to find it. I did look through/search the forum before posting. Any help would be great!
Thanks!

| [SOLVED] Resizing extended partition |

I have a dual-boot arrangement with LL2.0 (32bit) and Windows Vista on a laptop, and I'm trying to increase the size of the LL partition using GParted. A screenshot of the current partition structure is attached.
I have already reduced the size of the Windows partition (/dev/sda3), to create 29GB of unallocated space adjacent to /dev/sda4, which I want to add to the LL partition, /dev/sda6. The Gparted Manual says "If you are growing a logical partition, then the unallocated space must be within the extended partition" and "You can move unallocated space to be inside or outside of the extended partition by resizing the extended partition boundaries".
When I select the /dev/sda6 partition, the Resize/Move option in GParted's Partition menu is available, but I can't make the partition bigger, as expected. However, when I select the /dev/sda4 extended partition, the Resize/Move option is greyed-out, so I can't extend it into the unallocated space.
I have tried booting from a live CD so that the hard drive is unmounted, but it makes no difference.
Any suggestions, please?

| [SOLVED] 32 bit or 64 bit Linux Lite? |

The computer in question is a Gateway laptop MX6426 with AMD TURION 64 Mobil Technology ML-40 processor; 2.19 GHz 1 Gb RAM. Currently running Windows XP SP3 Media Center Edition which is 32 bit.
I believe the processor is 64 bit, but if so why would they put a 32 bit system on it at the factory?
If I dual boot Linux Lite, would I be better off with 32 bit or 64 bit OS? Pros/Cons?
Any thoughts appreciated, the 32/64 bit thing is pretty vague to me. Thanks!
Chris
