The error from running updates via the terminal would look like:

Code:
sudo apt-get update

Code:
W: There is no public key available for the following key IDs: 1397BC53640DB551

If you are getting an error from updates the fix is:

Code:
sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 1397BC53640DB551

Thanks Google once again...you suck.

Are 17-inch laptops the only size that come equipped with two drive bays, or can two drive bays be found in smaller laptops?

I'm having difficulty finding any information on the net, for either new or old laptops, concerning the number of bays they contain for fitting
either SSD or HDD.

Thanks for any info - maybe I should start a separate thread to survey the number of drive bays for named makes/models of Linux Lite
members' laptops ...

Mike

New problem on Firefox. You tube crashes after about 30 mins or so. Shuts down the computer and I have tried all the suggested fixes on Firefox and nothing seems to solve he problem. Not a big deal as it does not happen on Google or Epiphany which leads me to conclude the problem is with Firefox. Anyone else with this problem? Refreshed, disabled add on`s etc. tried all that.

I set up LL to require a password at login. I would like to undo this requirement, and preferably, not even have to click a user to get to the desktop.  The reason is this that I only do remote login from a different computer to get on this one as it is running as a media server and is kept in a difficult to reach place.  If I ever reboot the computer remotely I lose access because it is stuck at log in.

Thanks for the help.

I've started building Linux Lite 3.0

One of the first things we need is a new, default wallpaper. This is a very important decision as it is likely to last right through Series 3. If you're good at this kind of thing, I'd like to see if someone in the community would like to have a go at this.

The wallpaper should have the following:

- Easy on the eyes, something you can look at for a long time.
- Must be 1920 x 1080 resolution only.
- Must feature the Linux Lite feather logo in gold - https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/membe...sed-logos/ (see Transparent png's)
- No writing, just the logo.
- Look at the Linux Lite 2.8 default wallpaper to guide you on the simplicity we're looking for.

I think that's everything. Good luck, get creative Smile

Thank you,

Jerry

I have seen some reviews reporting problems in the new LTS flavors of Ubuntu. How will these problems effect Linux Lite 3.0? Delay 3.0 release?

How long will Linux Lite 2.8 be supported?

Hi there folks,

A while back I updated several packages pertaining to Linux Lite installed in my modified chromebox with the i915 installed as active driver.  Time passed then I bought a Samsung Un50JU7100 UHDTV and now when I go to the display settings menu to lower the screen resolution because text and icons are tiny I can't because all the other screen resolutions are gone. What I would like is to restore this feature just like it was when I first installed Linux Lite 2.4 on this machine so that I can choose any screen resolution just as in the live usb.  If this is possible, please let me know if not just tell me why ?  Thanks in advance.  Smile

I use timekpr on my son's PC to limit the amount of time he spends on it: it works very
effectively.

To set his daily time allowance I have two accounts: admin user (me) and my son's account.
From the admin a/c I can set his daily time allowance for his account.

However, today I accidentally locked myself out of the admin a/c so am unable to get into the PC
at all.  As superuser, I attempted to inspect the following files in the terminal, as I have reason to
believe the timekpr file settings will be there...

Code:
gksu leafpad etc/security/access.conf gksu leafpad etc/security/time.conf

However, all this comes up with is text which shows examples of settings that can be used. It doesn't actually
show the contents of the root files...

Thanks for any help in advance
Mike
