I am trying to auto mount a hard drive connected to my router. I have tried the suggestions from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1806455 but no dice. Can you guys point me in the right direction? Thanks.
LL 2.8 Control center says I need to update. I get a general failure error and it creates a log. I have removed chrome a while back. Any ideas?

I think I read on this forum that you could not upgrade from 2.8 to 3.0 because you have to reinstall 3.0. (I couldn't find it searching.) Why would something like what is this article http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2016/04/how-t...-16-04-lts for upgrading from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS work? ???
It would save having to install/uninstall software, themes, icons, etc.

I recently installed the Ubuntu Software Center on Linux Lite as Lite Software is horrible (I would love the Ubuntu Software Center to be built in LL, or at least an option in the installer). When I installed it, it also installed the Ubuntu Update Manager (which I also find better than lite-updates and every time I update using the Ubuntu Update Manager I get the following message: ![[Image: PgdsxBb.png]](http://i.imgur.com/PgdsxBb.png)
My question is, is it safe or will it overwrite LL with Ubuntu?
Hello All,
Apologies if this is mentioned elsewhere & I've missed it.
I've had a couple of people query me about the wording of the message when you go to remove something from the Panel.
"Are you sure you want to remove "XXX Plugin"?
"If you remove the item from the Panel, it is permanently lost"
I'm getting questions like this below from people who aren't computer savvy & have recently moved to LL.
"These keep coming up when I click Remove on icons in the panel - doesn't mean the program/plugin/launcher does it? If I want to put the icon back in there I still can??"
Once explained the program/plugin won't be lost all is well, but to simplify this for LL newbies perhaps change the "it is permanently lost" to something else?
"the plugin can be re added to the Panel if necessary"
Or something along those lines....little things like that that help people who aren't computer savvy go a long way.
Cheers
I have a two part question. The repositories for Linux Lite 1.0.0 to 1.0.8 were 'Amethyst', and they are now redundant. The repositories for Linux Lite 2.0 to 2.8 are 'Beryl' and the Linux Lite 3.x series will be 'Citrine'. What I would like to know is:
(a) How many more years will the Linux Lite 2.x series repositories (beryl) be active? (for those who are staying with that series) and-
(b) Will the Linux Lite 3.x repositories (Citrine) contain any of the older Linux kernels?
The reason I ask is that the Ubuntu 16.04 & Xubuntu 16.04 repositories don't contain older kernels. It only contains the 4.4.x kernel. As Linux Lite 3.x will also have the new Linux Kernel 4.4.x series if any of us need older kernels it's much easier to get & install the headers, image, & extra from the repositories. For example I did a fresh install of Linux Lite 2.8 (with 3.19.0-33) and downgraded the kernel to 3.13.0-24, which was the kernel for Linux Lite 2.0 to 2.6, by using the Synaptic software install. My older Lenovo M58P just hums along with the older kernel. So if the repositories for 3.x won't have any older kernels, with the new release just 6 weeks away, I'd like to either prepare for it differently, or decide to just stay with 2.8. Thanks to any & all who might have some inside news for me.
Trend Micro has reported that Apple is no longer supporting Quicktime for windows, and that there are already two vulnerabilities that will never be fixed. It is recommended that it be uninstalled on all windows systems. I just thought I would let everyone know. If you still use windows make sure you uninstall Quicktime.

Just wanted to say hey and thanks for most opic os ever. For years I've tryed to go linux full time and would get frustrated and back to windows I'd go. This doesn't feel like any of the other distros I've tryed but more like full os to me. Right from welcome screen just incredible with the control center and newbie friendly lite tools, etc....Keep up great work and again thank you for it.
We're on Spatry's Favourite Linux distro list for beginners. Nice!
Guess what number we came in at!!!
