Forum: Installing Linux Lite
- Replies (2)

Hi, I know this will be basic.. apologies , however I'm one of those people who is non technical user and have been using LL for several years..

I just installed 7.6

How do I change the date format from US to UK? ( I'm located in Australia)  When I installed LL I set the region to Australia.

I googled and found this   https://linuxopsys.com/change-default-da...t-in-linux

from this guidance I found that locale shows LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8"

I have edited en_US file to update the formats however it has had no effect..

The en_AU file looks fine.. however I cant see that it is being used

Any help would be appreciated... I'm happy to re-intsall if I have to

Thanks and kind regards

The app, even though it's installed and configured correctly for my city, doesn't display any weather information.
It appears it's not connecting to the weather data server.

Well I've finally gotten around to putting up a new review of Linux Lite.
https://dbts-analytics.com/ll7rev1.html
I've always found it frustrating the way reviewers skip over some of Linux Lite's nicest features, and its remarkable stability.

Hi All,

Recently my system prompted me for updates and I accepted them as usual, but after updates I started facing severe thermal issues and my laptop started shutting down automatically due to thermal issues.

Code:
Sep 21 08:59:07 linuxlite-Vostro-3500 kernel: [  511.326710] thermal thermal_zone0: acpitz: critical temperature reached, shutting down Sep 21 08:59:07 linuxlite-Vostro-3500 kernel: [  511.326723] reboot: HARDWARE PROTECTION shutdown (Temperature too high)

After long debug I found that latest kernel (5.15.0-153-generic) update was the issue. I had to remove new kernel and go back to old kernel (5.15.0-133-generic) to get my system stable again. Seems they removed support for old hardware, intentionally or by mistake I don't know.

Code:
sudo apt remove linux-image-5.15.0-153-generic linux-modules-5.15.0-153-generic sudo update-grub

I wanted to raise this issues so that it can be escalated to the relevant team and fixed in future version. Below are log details and system information. Please let me know if any more information is needed.

"Your system is up to date" is the message I have been getting for 45 days now. Any ideas on why no updates?

Thanks.

I am a newbie to the world of Linux. I installed Linux Lite 7.6 on my old laptop Dell Latitude D830. During the installation, the wifi driver was recognized and installed, as well as my network. However, the wifi network won't connect. I checked the password several times and after 3 tried, it disconnected. Using inxi -N from the tutorial, I received the information below:
Device-1: Broadcom and subsidiaries NetXtreme BCM57755M Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express
driver: tg3
Device-2: Broadcom and subsidiaries BCM4311 802.11a/b/g
driver: b43-pci-bridge
Device-3: Dell Wireless 360 Bluetooth type: USB driver: btusb

The wifi was working in windows 7 before I wiped it to install Linux Lite 7.6. Any help to get the wifi working will greatly be appreciated it.

Tom

Hello,

I tried running Linux Lite 2.0 from a USB live session on my Samsung NC10 netbook (which I intend to install on the hard drive, but only after solving the issue I’m opening this thread about).

The only problem I have is that Serbian characters don’t appear when typing in office programs or text editors. I added the appropriate keyboard layout, but the keyboard doesn’t produce the specific characters for my language (Š, Č, Ć, Đ, Ž).

Is there a way to solve this (since I’m pretty new to Linux), or should I try a later version of Linux Lite? (I’m not sure up to which version this laptop would still work.)

I’m already using LL 7.6 on my main PC (which I mostly use as a kind of TV), and since it works perfectly, I decided to try Linux Lite on this old machine (originally designed for Windows XP).

Everything works as it should, except the Serbian Latin keyboard. If anyone has a workaround, please share. Thanks!

Just today, my LL software 4.6, will not allow any software from being downloaded. It worked yesterday. Now I get a "Failed" when trying to download any software such as Belena Etcher. I need to create a USB I.O to load Manjero.
No idea why all software downloads fail in a few seconds?
Please help.
