hello, I am new to linux and after I installed linux lite, I cant see my CDROM nor I can mount it.

I have tried all instructions on different posts but nothing seems to work for me. Please help me 

With hackers etc. targeting the popular OS and browsers etc, MS Windows and associated software have been the target of malware, viruses etc.  Android OS is now the next obvious target with all the mobile internet of things- phones, tablets Chromebooks etc.  Isn't Android based on linux, and if so, will that eventually make linux OS flavours  more vulnerable i.e risking the safety of linux as an OS.

I understand that there are some MAC OS viruses - because of the market share of IPADs?

Have downloaded the FSLINT from "ALL" on  Synaptic.
Got the following synaptic report  after downloading all  dependencies etc.

However Synaptic shows green box after download and appears to be working.

Done the Broken Packages routine and again failed to download those missing. "generic kernel headers and image" ??

QUESTION

What is the significance of the report above and does it make the use of the fslint "as is" unsafe/unreliable.

A big portion of the screen is black and i can't use it. The display window have only 1 option on it and can't edit it.

After some google search, found a command that maybe can help but it is not helping here the results of that command, what can i do?

I have been trying to install said Brother. for quite a few days. When I try to paste the the following command into a terminal ,I get the followin error msg. " linux-bprinter-installer-.gz" no such file or directory.

Hi Everyone:
I really need help.  I'm 74 and have just installed Linux Lite 1.0.8.  Everything works great, but I have no sound.  I right clicked on the speaker on the right bottom of the screen and checked the setting there.  Here is what I found. (Sound Card) PLAYBACK: Dummy Output(Pulse audio Mixer)...CAPTURE: Monitor of Dummy Output(Pulse Audio Mixer)  MIXER TRACT:  Only Master Track.  Left Click command:  amixer set Master toggle.  I don't see any sound cards listed????  Help!  Anymore ideas???

So my Linux Lite (which I love) came with LibreOffice. It works fine for me, but I am currently applying for jobs online, and I want to make sure that people can see my resumes and cover letters. How can I write in LibreOffice and be certain that it will open on their end when they use MS Office? Do I have to save it a certain way or something?

Solitaire is my favorite game, but the ugly card theme that is set as the default in Aisleriot cannot be changed within the program itself. There's a simple solution. Open the Terminal and type:
"sudo apt-get install gnome-cards-data" 

Just wanted to say hello to the forum. I'm not new to open source software, but definitely a greenhorn when it comes to any OS outside of Windows. I have an old XP machine I'm trying to revive with Linux Lite. After a few tries I finally managed to burn a live cd, but the desktop will only partially appear unless I boot into safe graphical mode. So I guess I have to start off with a newbie question...it runs great off the cd in sgm, but does that mean my graphics chip is not sufficient to run Linux Lite normally? I really want to get this installed on my machine, but I want to make sure it's going to be usable after installation. I was wondering if perhaps there's a driver configuration that can be done that will make it work? Any help would be appreciated. I'm really anxious after taking the tour, to get this thing goin.
