| LL 2.0 install on AMD A6/A88 machine W/RAID 1 - LL Installer Crashes |

Began trying to install LL last night after enabling AMD RAID (1) in BIOS for 2) 2 TB disks. Left to install and went to bed. This morning when I went to check on the install, there was a window on top of another saying that the installer had crashed. Both windows were unresponsive and I had to reset. Nothing was installed on the disk(s). Will be working on it again tonight but wondering if anyone has done RAID on AMD HW and gotten LL installed successfully (do not know if the problem with installer crash is related to my attempt to enable RAID or not (and RAID may not in fact be enabled, only see one disk when the install begins and the AMD RAID BIOS screen does not look right)).
On a related note, I thought I came across a tutorial on the forum regarding how to properly provide pertinent info in a posting to get help when reporting on a problem. Can someone put me onto that (or am I remembering incorrectly?) Like for instance how to get the command line stuff behind the GUI if I continue to experience installer crashes?
Thanks,
Robert

I'm a long term Linux user who has never settled on one distro for very long. I have poor attention span I guess! Although Linux in some flavour has been my only OS at home for over a decade my journey has been so smooth that I haven't really become an expert in it, except in areas where I have needed to learn my way around. Despite this I do moderate on a couple of other Linux forums.
For the past few months, I have been installing Fedora with Xfce which I love, using it for a while and then replacing it with Linux Lite which I also love and so on. Currently back on Linux Lite.
I love Fedora as it is so bleeding edge (it has just got the 3.16 kernel for example) and is pretty quick. I love Linux Lite because it is based on an LTS version so should be supported for a while and is blindingly fast which is all the more remarkable as it includes full fat software like Libre Office. Yes I am aware they are conflicting things. Welcome to my mind!
I had what I thought was a good suggestion to improve the software installer (check boxes instead of radio buttons for multiple selections) but found it had already been done after an update; so it seems the distro is in a constant state of incremental improvement which is a good sign especially after the recent news about Bodhi. I have been heard saying that Linux Lite is what Xubuntu should be, but isn't quite.

| Nouveau driver works better than in Ubuntu, how could it be possible? |

Hi,
I have used Ubuntu for some years and I like it because is really user friendly. However, I have a (not so) old computer (AMD Sempron, 2GB RAM and GeForce 4) and as there is no Nvidia drivers support I had to use Nouveau or vesa driver. The problem was that Ubuntu with nouveau drivers gives me a lot of problems (icons disappearing, suddenly crashes and system block).
Thus, I try to use it using nouveau without acceleration or vesa driver. However, Ubuntu was too heavy for my computer. I found your distro and I dediced to try it. As in Ubuntu, I had to use nouveau drivers in my computer. However, in this case when I start using nouveau drivers with acceleration, I had no issues. Everything works perfectly. No icon vanish, no crashes nor blocks.
So, I would like to thank your team and I also would like to know if you have applied any change (respect to Ubuntu) to nouveau driver, to Xorg or to Xfce so that it is more stable than in Ubuntu, or where/how could I check it.
Thanks !!! ;D

New user here..
I had the software running good, I then installed the updates and it just seemed to fall apart. No, wifi, it started running S L O W and the machine would not shut down.. I spent hours trying to fix it. The only hope is to reinstall, but I am afraid that once I try to update it will only do the same thing again..
I tried to honestly to like Linux Lite... but this is too nerve racking... :-\

Hello,
I installed Linux Lite yesterday and look forward to hopefully transitioning to Linux full time in the near future. This is my very first experience with a Linux OS, and the process is somewhat daunting. One of the main reasons for the transition is that I really like what I see in the Linux community, you guys and gals are amazing. Consequently, I have become disappointed and frustrated with Microsoft and their business practices. It is obviously time for me to make a change and support (YOU) and Linux.
My issue right now is software compatibility. I am a Civil Engineer and have been using Bentley Microstation as my Civil Design software. To my disappointment, I telephoned Bentley and their software is not compatible with Linux. So this will require a new software package to learn, on top of learning Linux. I did find one CAD software company, BricsCAD, that supports Linux, however I can not find a third party Civil Design package that will run on Linux. So.... what to do?
It looks like I will have to continue using XP and Microstation until I can find a Civil Design Package that will run on Linux. It is hard to believe that I am the only engineer facing this issue? Surely other engineer want to utilize and support Linux and ditch Microsoft? Time will tell..
Thank You!
engineer
