I'm using the following command line to make my username in light red.

export PS1="\[\e[1;31m\][\u@\h\w]\$ \[\e[0m\] "

When I try to make my change permanent in the .bashrc file, it just screws it up. What should I enter into the .bashrc file?

old command:
export PS1="\[\e[1;31m\][\u@\h\w]\$ \[\e[0m\] "

I'm using the latest version of LL. Was able to get my laptop to recognize my broadcom wifi but it now asks for my wifi login and keyring password. Anyone know a fix?

In all the years I've been using Linux it's always had problems with wifi and ethernet. Windows solved that issue with Win 95. I'm using a Dell Latitude D620 and forget how to fix the built in wireless. Anyone know the answer? Thanks

Hi, my name is Lynne and this is my very first time at joining any sort of forum at all. Linux Lite has persuaded me.  Smile

I live in Australia and am an older lady.

I have been using Ubuntu (mostly) and Kubuntu (some of the time) and Linux Mint (tried it for awhile) over the past few years and now have just installed the latest Linux Lite version. I am not an expert but I do know a little to get me around the distro. During yesterday when I installed it, I did call in here to find a couple of answers and now here I am ... all new and shiny and saying "Hi".

Lynne ...  Smile

First Time of use
Want to be able to restore operating system and user files in the event of  sda failure. cf Windows full Backup/restore

0)  LL2.6 32bit = on HPdc7760  with 3 GB Ram  Dual core Intel CPU 1.9 GHZ
1) System internal  160 GB HDD  default single partition ( + swap etc) EXT4.  @  24.9 GB  Free = sda
2) Freshly formatted (Gparted) old External USB 2.0 160 GB HDD default single partition EXT4 @149 GB Free  = sdb1
No files/folders on SDB1 ( hidden or otherwise).
Ist System back up:aim  to be able to restore operating system and user files in the event of  sda failure  No previous restore points
Storage point path chosen /mnt/sdb1
Point Operations: Create New = 18:21 start  Creating Store Point stopped at 18:45  i.e approx 24 minutes to complete

Restore point appears  on systemback screen as 2016-01-07,18.20.59
Close SystemBack
SDA  now reads  only 14.5 GB Free
SDB now still reads 149.3 GB Free  NO file visible. ( incl hidden Files)
Please advise what is going on – what have I missed.
Also What is the difference between "SystemBack" and "Backup" in menu

Do a lot of video editing and compositing. Can anyone recommend a good easy use video editor, joiner and DVD ripper?
Without these appz, I can't fully switch from Windows to Linux. Thanks.
