Hi all,

I had problems getting Bluetooth devices working on Debian Jessie. So I tested a range of distros Xubuntu 14.04/15.10, Lubuntu 14.04/15.04, Bodhi and Linux Lite.

In Bodhi bluetooth works too but is a pain in the *ss configuring extended monitors. So I ended with Linux Lite, a nice suprise. First distro that works with my bluetooth keyboard without tweaking. Steam included, great!
Big thanx to the Linux Lite team!!

So far I love Linux Lite and use it as my main distro.
I have Vector Linux running on a older laptop and Bodhi in VirtualBox.

Sorry, this got posted in the wrong thread and I can't delete or move it. Can someone with the authority move it to the appropriate place for me please?

Haven't used 'Install Updates' since a couple of weeks and today I went to do it and got this:

Code:
Error: Couldn't fetch the package cache information lists.

Anyone has the same experience?

What can I try to fix this, please?

http://www.linuxdunyam.com/2015/09/linux-lite-26.html

This guy, basiccaly choose turkish on languages menu at start but when installation finished all system was english. People don't know english in my country (Well, most of people) and I believe linux lite can be a real life saver for my country. Only lack is language I think. Because in my country people are really greedy and linux lite is fast on old computers. I guess I could tell you what I meant Smile Anyway, if you can let me know how can I help to translate linux lite I would like to do my best. My native language is turkish and as you can tell my english isn't bad either. Not perfect, but I constantly improve it Smile Anyway, if you can help me to help you, I would really be appriciate Smile

Am trying to 'network' an LL2.8 notebook to my 'home' desktop PC (with LL2.8 ) using a 'wired' connection to my router, to copy over some image-files.

Consulted the LL network tutorial "Accessing a NAS device" and found the laptops if address but when I follow the given instructions smb://192.168.0.? where 192.168.0.? is your NAS's IP address. and type them in BASH (on the desktop) I get a "File not found" (even with 'sudo'...)  Am I missing something?

Would welcome any advice, (I'm not a real 'command-liner'...but willing to give it a go  Wink )

Cheers, Tom

Forum: Installing Linux Lite
- Replies (32)

I have a HP stream 11 notebook that I want to install Linux lite 2.8
its spec is ---

Processor  ---  Intel® Celeron® N3050 with Intel® HD Graphics
(1.6 GHz, up to 2.16 GHz, 2 MB cache, 2 cores)
Memory  ---  2 GB DDR3L SDRAM (onboard)

Storage  ---  Internal drive  ---  32 GB eMMC
                        SD card    ---  32GB

  It has Windows 10 - 64bit pre installed . I am considering replacing Windows 10 with Lite 2.8  .
Which would the best version for me 32bit or 64 bit . I assume the UEFI version is not yet available but is it likely to be released soon

I installed Linux Lite yesterday and i must say this is the best Linux OS with the xfce desktop. It is low in memory, have an very good hardware support and works great.

It would be really nice to have a better "Monitor Setup" so one can use custom resolutions. Dual Screen Setups should get saved to disk, so one does not have to set them every time he/she boots up.
The possibility to even install legacy drivers would also be nice, because i really feel that i am not alone in linux-land with an old computer and an old video card. There may be many more people,
who have an old video-card like the "ATI Radeon 9600" that somehow got kicked out of support from the most recent proprietary fglrx drivers.
And it seems to be a very hackish way to install that legacy driver by hand(by fooling around with dependencies and things a normal human beeing hasnt got a clue about)
...I guess that is not the philosophy of Linux Lite.

Since we dont surf  the web with lynx anymore, the possibilty to set up Monitors correctly and according to the wishes of their owners seems very essential for me to gain a widespread "fanbase" for Linux Lite.
