Hello I'm Mark

I'm PC tech and I'm familiar with with Linux. I have to say Linux Lite has been a breeze to install and use. The learning curve is small, the system pretty much does what you want. I especially like the way the update manager works and easy to customizing the system.

Well done!

And 2018 just rolls on:
"Transmission, one of the most used non-commercial BitTorrent clients, has a vulnerability that allows outsiders to gain control over people's computers. The flaw affects users who have remote control enabled with the default password. The vulnerability was revealed by a Google researcher, who plans to disclose similar remote code execution flaws in other torrent clients as well."

THIS IS AWESOME!

http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2018/01/virtu...nux-kernel

Work to add features in VirtualBox Guest Additions to the Linux kernel is underway by kernel developers. The first fruits of their labor will appear in Linux 4.16.

These additional features are licensed under the GPL and sit in the kernel tree. That means no additional proprietary code or binary blobs are loaded on your system

Why does this matter?

Well, it means the next time you boot a Linux distribution with the Linux 4.16 (or later) kernel, VirtualBox Guest Additions will be already installed. You won’t need to enable, add, install or tweak anything (in theory).

Basic system integration features like seamless mode and copy and paste between guest and host will “just work”. Devs even plan to support shared folders out of the box in a future kernel release.

I have recently discovered a means using conky to overlay animated images on the desktop.
Adapting code found here, https://dolys.fr/forums/topic/lanceur-anime-bureau/,
I was able to contrive a few desktop animations like this one:

Been wanting to do this for a long time.

Several variations are seen here: http://www3.telus.net/someubuntufreebies/desktops.html

hi guys I know that this is so offtopic that I would have to post it in offtopics offtopic (if there was a one ) anyway i am looking for a new phone and I can say that my needs are diffrent from anyother ones need I mean I hardly ever use camera twice *a month* so if you gave me two phones having exactly the same specs but one is cheaper by 20 dollars and have worse camera, I will choose it, anyway I can say that I need a big battery and big storage  and ram not alot more,
------the reason I am posting this here is (1) I am not part of any other forum (2) I think there might be a phone spec in this forum somewhere
anyway thanks for your patience and happy to hear your thought
PS currently the top smartphone and the phone that has the biggest chance of winning is the Xiaomi redmi note 4 (have a phone that you think can beat the rn4, just post it below)

Has anyone noticed the contradiction on DW relating to Parted Magic? The large blue coloured screenshot clearly shows under the Parted Magic logo, "a free partitioning tool" but Parted Magic has not been free for a very long time! OR, have I missed a free updated version somewhere?
