I was using Mint 18.3 with Xfce.  When right clicking on an installed USB flash drive while in Caja file manager and choosing eject, a large notification appears on the upper right hand corner of the monitor saying something like......'It is now safe to remove drive'

Would it be possible to add this feature to Lite?

Thanks

Last week, I had to take Linux lite 3.6 off my laptop and reinstall it, due to a crash after installed and restarting after updates.

When I closed the lid previously my laptop, it would temporary shutdown, leaving one light flashing at the front. It always asked for my password when the lid was reopened.

Now my laptop is being strange. At the weekend if I closed the lid, it would not ask me for my password when opening the lid. My settings for closing the lid were set to lockscreen in the power manager. A friend and I could not understand this but in the end I changed the setting to suspend and then changed it back to lockscreen. This worked and it now asks for my password!

I still have an issue though. Two lights on the front of my laptop remain on and it makes low level noise as if still running. I would like it to operate as before, quiet with only one light flashing. Any ideas?

Thank you for taking the time to read and I would appreciate any help offered.

P.S. I am a novice and my knowledge is basic.

Yes I did. I bought a MacBook Pro. BUT WHY they asked. Read on...

So we target Windows users primarily. But, we'd also like people who use other proprietary OS's such as Mac OS to try, and hopefully replace their current OS.
The only way I could find to economically (via your generous donations and Ad revenue) test Linux Lite with Windows and on Mac hardware was to buy a Mac.

One computer to do it all. Now I can:

- Test AMD graphics drivers (nVidia drivers are tested on another PC)
- Test Dual/Triple boot LL, Windows, MacOS.
- Test LL on actual Mac hardware.
- Have a portable computer.

Here it is:

MacBook Pro 15.4" - Early 2011
Model #: A1286, MC721LL/A

Features a 32 nm "Sandy Bridge" 2.0 GHz Intel "Core i7" processor (2635QM), with four independent processor "cores" on a single silicon chip, a 6 MB shared level 3 cache.
> LED-backlit 15.4" widescreen TFT active-matrix "glossy" display (1440x900 native resolution).
> 8GB RAM
> 240GB SSD
> An 8X DL SuperDrive
> Dual graphics processors -- an AMD Radeon HD 6490M with 256 MB of dedicated GDDR5 memory and an Intel HD Graphics 3000 graphics processor that shares 384 MB of memory with the system.
> Connectivity includes AirPort Extreme (802.11a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Gigabit Ethernet, a Firewire "800" port, two USB 2.0 ports, separate audio in and out ports, an SDXC card slot, and a new "Thunderbolt" port that is backwards compatible with Mini DisplayPort.

Battery info:
2 cycle counts / 6750mAh

Does come with 60W MagSafe Charger.

I'm off to shower now, I feel a little dirty. Hold me Smile

Old Acer laptop showed up at my shop yesterday with customer who wanted to replace Windows 7 crashed from Windows Meltdown patch before MS pulled it (Celeron 2.2G CPU). I decided to run it through the progression of installing 3.4 first to get the old kernel. Updated 3.4 to the new kernel .110 no problem. Upgraded to 3.6, installed my plymouth progress bar theme, installed Audacity from Lite software, set Firefox theme and security, added Startpage home, checked for mem-leak after leaving connected all night ---- everything good. Not a single issue. Will upload to hardware DB in a few minutes. This particular processor was known to have had pipe problems with underruns in Linux  depending on the OEM memory addressing. No more. Good work Ubu.

Good day all. First time I use a forum to get support, hopefully I’ll get it right.
I have installed Linux lite 3.6 on my PC on dual boot with Win 10. It seems to run well but it doesn't recognize the WI-FI adapter card. (by the way the WI-FI card works well in Win 10) The icon on the bottom right shows the disconnection and obviously it doesn't detect any Wi-Fi. Is there anyone out there able to help? I read all the previous posts but nothing seems to work for my case or some of them are a bit too technical.

Please keep in mind also that I am a ship crew member, therefore I am unable to plug via LAN the PC to a router therefore the only option I have is the Wi-Fi connection.

Here below some PC specs:
Model: HP 255 G6
Card: Intel dual band wireless -AC 3168
CPU: AMD E2-9000e radeon r2, 4 compute cores 2c+2c
1500mhz

Hi,

I have MacMini 2.1, Core2Duo @ 2 GHz, 2 GB RAM, running Linux Lite 3.6 (x64), kernel 4.4.0-93-generic.

LL runs very smoothly on it. I'm very pleased. The only problem is my MacMini cannot wake after being auto-suspended (based on Power Management setting). What is interesting is that if I see the computer going to sleep and shortly go and press the power button to wake it up, it will. Bit if I leave it overnight, the next day when I press the power button, it only shows a black screen and never wakes up (it just hangs) and I have to restart it.

I tried to fix this by reading various posts, but it's not working great. I have the following setting in GRUB:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash resume=/de/sda3 video=1280x1024 reboot=warm,cold,bios,smp,triple,kbd,acpi,efi,pci,force"

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="module.sig_enforce=0"

In The Power Management settings I have:

System Sleep mode - suspend after 30 minutes being inactive

(the other settings I did not specify since  think they are not relevant to the problem)

I used this MacMini with Bootcamp which I usually booted to Win7 and the sleep/suspend modes were working correctly (same for the OSX on the maachine). Also, I could wake the computer by just clicking with the mouse or pressing a key (while with LL I had to press the power button).

I'd appreciate any help on my issue? Thank you!

Regards,

George

Hi, my HD wich has linux lite running, sounds like its not going to last much longer.
Downloading files or updating linux isnt possible anymore, it starts making these loud clicking noises and after some time crashes.
Is it possible to move everything to an external HD and then switch it with the internal broken HD ?
