I have not done anything with system settings. Just browsing and copying data. But now USB and SD cards are read only. How do I fix this?

Hola a tod@s: He instalado Peerguardia 2.3.1 sobre LinuxLite 4.6 y despues de mucho pelear con la instalacion y conseguirlo, me encuentro que el programa ( en un principio si lo hizo, pero al dia siguiente no fue posible) NO FUNCIONA! no puedo o no se como actualizar la listas de blokeo....no encuentro la forma.DESDE LA INTERFAC DEL PROGRAMA NO ES POSIBLE.
Alguien me puede decir algo al respecto??.

Just recently install LL 5,0 RC on a Dell Alien-ware 15 R2 laptop and LL 5 can seem to find the networked printer using the "add printer". I've even gone to the extend of installing the Canon MB5050 but it doesn't seem to find the printer on the network. I have verified that the printer works on a Windows system and also had it working with Linux Mint 19.0 >.

I like to suggest a search window integrated into the task list,
where internet searches could placed and then the browser
will open with the search result.

See attached picture area with red boundaries

I think it will be a nice feature what will make LL more comfortable.

From my view following will be needed:
> Search window >> it is allready used for some issues at LL
> A selection of the browser, default is standard browser (Settings)
> A selection of the search provider Google ..... (Settings)

I know it is easy to suggest, but not so easy to implement.

If it can't set at task list then a desktop widget will be nice also.

I am new to Linux Lite. Just tried the RC of 5.0 and its awesome.
new users should certainly like it.

Now I am not able to install the drivers required for getting spice graphics up and running in the VM. cant find the driver for xorg for spice

I followed the steps in

but cant get it to install - xserver-xorg-video-qxl

Would be good to run Linux Lite 5 as a guest with spice enabled in a KVM/QEMU environment

I read about LL on BetaNews 5.0 RC1 and figured I'd give it a shot. I'm currently running it in a VirtualBox session until I've evaluated it.
Once it passes my tests, I'll install it on one of my PCs. I'm a retired LAN Admin and trying out new things keeps my brain sharp (my wife might dispute that)
Since no one here in New York State can go outside unless it's absolutely necessary, I have plenty of time to try this OS out. It looks promising so far
but I have run into a snag trying to do sudo apt update. You can see my post in the appropriate section for details.

I have been running into an issue updating my Linux Lite 4.8 for about the last 2-3 weeks now. I do not remember making any configuration changes and I have tried changing my update source locations to several different locations both in and out of the United States and I still get the same results.

This is the error output that I get below....so how do I fix this?

How do I know if my Windows pc has UEFI?

In Windows Search, type msinfo or msinfo32 and launch the desktop app named System Information. Look for the BIOS Mode item, and if the value for it is UEFI, then you have the UEFI firmware. If it says BIOS Mode Legacy, then that’s the firmware you’re running.

Secure Boot is supported, but unless you know exactly how to handle it, it is a P.I.T.A. at best so I am going to say...you must disable Secure Boot to enable stress free computing.

Grub menu shows Linux Lite as 'Ubuntu'. After you install Linux Lite, you can change Grub to show 'Linux Lite':

- Open /etc/default/grub as Administrator.
- Comment out: GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian` and leave GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR='Linux Lite' uncommented.

29-04-2020: Weird bug now appears after successful OEM install, /etc/apt is removed. Will keep a close eye on it.

Live USB/DVD/VirtualBox/Vmware:

Login is automatic, no credentials are required. The image can be written to a 2gb or larger USB stick, or a writable DVD. Alternatively, you can use the dd command: sudo dd if=linux-lite-5.0-rc1-64bit.iso of=/dev/sdx bs=4M where 'x' is the letter of your usb stick. In linux to find out the letter of your usb stick, open a terminal and type: df -h It is usually listed as 'media' or similar.
