Hi There.
I am new to Linux, I installed it onto an old laptop.

When I select the highest display resolution (1360 x 768), everything is still quite HUGE on the screen.
It feels like the address bar in my web browser is almost half way down the screen!
(maybe I am just used to my work laptop that has a 1920 x 1080 display)

Is there any way to force the display to make everything smaller?
Surely it is not a hardware limitation, because when I zoom out on a webpage (by pressing Ctrl and -) the content gets smaller, but nothing looks funny.

Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi there.

I am new to Linux. I installed Linux Lite on a 4 year old mid-range laptop at home.

Is there any way to reverse the two-finger scrolling direction for the trackpad?

I have ticked the reverse (natural) scrolling tickbox in the mouse/trackpad settings, but that didn't do anything.
(I assume that only changes the mouse wheel scrolling direction)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi there guys!  Smile

I'm a newbie in Linux world and since a days ago I've had the following troubles when I want to install or remove packages:

I don't know what

Code:
xfce4-goodies : Depends: xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin but it is not going to be installed
is or means. And I neither know what is the
Code:
apt-get -f install
command use for.

When I run
Code:
apt-get -f install
I have the following response:

By the way, I'm running Linux Lite 3.8 for 32bits. Thanks!! Wink

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice life! Smile

I just updated & upgraded LL and noticed that adobe flash player got installed, why is that? Chromium doesn't support it anymore so there's no point in using it.

Was just unable to update the OS (Light 4. 8) . Assuming this is a temporary thing? Here is the log:

After getting Linux 5.0 to update successfully my GRUB menu looks like this, but only the first 2 lines and last 2 lines run the machine.
I don't want to break my system while I am trying to learn Linux. I still need Windows to run some of my applications, but my older laptop certainly runs Linux much faster and works great for the virtual classes I'm doing right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

*Ubuntu                                                        When selected boots into Linux 5.0 updated normally
Advanced options for Ubuntu                          Opens options normally
Windows Boot Manager (on /dev/sda1)            Tries to boot Windows, but ends at blue Windows error boot recovery options screen
Linux Lite 4.8 (18.04) (on /dev/sda4)              Goes to logon screen, but won't open, just keeps returning to logon screen after P/W
Advanced options for Linux Lite 4.8 (18.04) (on /dev/sda4)    Same as above on all options
Linux Lite 5.0 (20.04) (on /dev/sda7)              Goes to logon screen, but won't open, just keeps returning to logon screen after P/W
Advanced options for Linux Lite 5.0 (20.04) (on /dev/sda7)    Same as above on all options
Windows Boot Manager  (on  /dev/sbd1)            Boots Windows normally
UEFI Firmware Settings                                    Opens BIOS settings normally

Only use MKUSB. Sardu, Multiboot and others are not suitable eg Multiboot will report completion, but the stick may not boot.

Only use a good, fast USB 3.0 stick my preferred Sandisk 16Gb less than $10.

For some reason or other MKUSB faulted out with me with error '/dev/sda3' could not be mounted. Poweroff and cold boot for dus-persistent to make persistent live drives again!'  I found the method that worked was using MKUSB-PLUG, I still got error, but the stick works.

Sandisk USB boots fast, and Lite provides an excellent bunch of utilities/applications that should satisfy anyones needs.
Alistair.

Hi, I am a linux newbie. I was switching between workspaces in linux lite 5.2. I generally do that by Ctrl+Alt+Right/Left Arrow Keys but this time I was pressing Ctrl+F1/F2. By mistake I pressed Ctrl+Shift+F1 or Ctrl+Shift+F2. A window opened with black screen that reads:

Linux Lite 5.2 LTS parmanand-Inspiron-N4010 tty2
parmanand-Inspiron-N4010 login: _

Is this root user login? If yes, then how can I close this window without logging in as root?

Edit: Never mind. This black screen is a tty virtual console. I got back to my graphical desktop by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F7.
