Prepare for Shipping Gone [OEM Install]
Posted by: shawnFRITA - 02-05-2021, 12:49 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (9)

We started using LinuxLite for our computer refurbs and we installed using the OEM install .  at first we saw the prepare for shipping icon on the desktop  and in accessories.
When we was setting up a desktop to show the customer the system worked, we noticed the desktop icon is missing and its no longer in the accessories section.
we can verify that the OEM logon is the temporary account from the login. (also in the users account section)

any idea where/what happened?

attached image from the doc so we all know what im talking about Smile

Hi everyone! Hope you're ll having a nice life! Smile

Quote:In a recent update, the Raspberry Pi OS installed a Microsoft apt repository on all machines running Raspberry Pi OS without the person’s or admin’s knowledge. Every time a Raspbian device is updated by having this repo, it will ping a Microsoft server.

Unable to set refresh rate via HDMI
Posted by: Xotty - 02-03-2021, 07:44 PM - Forum: Video Cards - Replies (10)

Hi All,

Almost finished tweaking my new install. Coming from Win10.
I had screen tearing with Nvidia driver that I finally managed to solve but I could not get my monitor working 120Hz with HDMI. It worked under Windows and my monitor support 144Hz max. I know 144Hz only works with display port. Tried with Nouveau driver as well but same, only 60Hz is available. My laptop is an MSI CX62-2QD with Nvidia 940M
My Nvidia setting panel is looking a bit weird, I think a lot of things are missing from it eg. resolution setting, refresh rate setting...

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HwbZK_R...sp=sharing

I tried to add custom refresh rates with xrandr but I could only manage to set it to 75Hz

Can you update the BIOS when the disk is encrypted?

I am following the instructions to update the BIOS at https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us...e%20Device.  When I boot to the USB created using UNetBootin and I select FreeDOS, I get "Invalid or corrupt kernel image."

For the record, the md5sum and sha256sum are good for the FreeDOS file I downloaded, and I am using the binary for UNetBootin from https://unetbootin.github.io/.

Internet not working on functioing WiFi adapter TP-LINK TL-WN722N V2.0
Posted by: Dave Bruwer - 01-31-2021, 12:42 AM - Forum: Network - Replies (13)

I have just installed Linux Lite on an old desktop PC.
It uses a TP-LINK TL-WN722N V2.0 USB adapter for WIFI access.

The wifi seems to be working fine, and I was even able to access local shared files over the wifi.

BUT, the internet connection doesn't seem to be working.
I can't see anything obvious wrong.

I connected to the modem with an ethernet cable, and performed all the updates, but to no avail.

Any suggestions?
