G'day all.  Smile

Thought it was about time I signed up here, since I have been using the product since before the UEFI was introduced in the 4.x series.

Also, I am hoping to have someone fast-track me in navigation so that I can post a Thread checking to see if Jerry and the LL Team are aware of a problem for Timeshift that will be coming with the release of Ubuntu's Kinetic Kudu point release imminently.

This, in so far as it might adversely affect a future release of Linux Lite.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, everyone! Smile

Since the problem occures often and I had it many times, after finding a way out of this, I thought it would be useful to share it.

If the Indicator Plugin is missing from your list, you can install it with the following:

Code:
sudo apt install xfce4-indicator-plugin

Ok, I will try reporting this again in a different way since I don't think my previous post was understood.

This is a software issue. Not hardware.

After installing LL 6.2 I am unable to use the "settings"  - "Install driver" application to install the proprietary drivers for my system.
In LL 5.8 this worked.

Running "install drivers" would list both the "Nouveau" open source nvidia driver, and the proprietary nvidia driver version 340.108.

However In LL 6.2 I get the result  "No proprietary drivers found."

The Install 6.2 uses the Nouveau drivers by default.

Unfortunately along with poor performance in some tasks, I have found the Nouveau drivers are not very stable and cause video corruption in some simple applications like the system monitor.

With the closure of OSDisc.com, I now buy Linux disks from a guy on eBay, and he suggested I try Linux Lite. I find it easy to figure out for a Windows user, unlike so many other distros I have tried in the past, and the auto-boot is definitely appreciated. I have been using it in LiveCD mode for a couple months now, and ready to commit to an actual install, so figured it's time to join the forum as I have many questions.

Printer OEMs have begun to adapt standards for driverless printers because of the massive proliferation of cell phones and the need to print from those devices. This is a good thing for the future of desktop Linux printer compatibility given that Linux will be able to easily use those protocols without the need for printer specific proprietary drivers. Modern printers will all be changing to these protocols so Linux may finally be rid of OEM printer driver nuisance.

Problem - after installing LL 6.2[RC1] I am unable to install the proprietary Nvidia driver for my video card.

Process - clean install of LL6.2 [RC1]
      - go to "Settings" - "Install Drivers"  scan for 3d party hardware / drivers.

Result  - no 3rd party drivers found.

Expected result - Detect the video card  [Nvidia 8600m] and give option to choose between Nouveau driver, or Proprietary Nvidia driver [version 340.108]

This worked in Linux lite 5.8.

Impact - poor video performance in multiple apps.

--Note I tossed this in as a bug report because It is NOT a hardware issue. Nor is it an issue with the Video card. Its an issue with the "Install Drivers" software of linux lite. 6.2/

Hiya.

It's happened to me a few times: the network connection and software update icons disappear from the lower right part of the panel.

I haven't figured out why, and how to get them back. Probably not very complicated, any pointers would be might appreciated!

Hello,
How do I find out which version of LinuxLite was installed on an off-line drive without booting from that drive?
The drive is no longer bootable, but files are accessible. It was taken from a computer that no longer operational.
Thank you.
