I have installed the Get_iplayer PPA so am on Version3.06. Will do checks this evening when there should be a list of updated programs from today.
@newtusmaximus - could you now mark this thread as solved, since ...... the up-to-date version of get-iplayer (3.01-ppa30a~xenial) is now available from the Ubuntu repository. Just go to Menu --> Install Updates --> Search (type get-iplayer in the Search box).
