This looks like a problem with the Ubuntu mirror you are trying to use.
It is probably temporary and will likely get sorted out without you needing to do anything other than waiting.
In the short term you can try different servers to see if you can get immediate better results.

Click 'Menu'
Begin typing 'Software' into the search bar
When you see 'Software & Updates' offered as a selection click it.
In the 'Download from' pull down navigate to a different server in your region.
Click 'Choose' and then exit from the selection, entering your password as required.

Repeat the update process to see if the other server is better.
You may need to try several servers.

I don't know if they are related, but this is just one of several problems I'm having with Linux Lite.  I have created a post for a problem getting VLC installed and working and another post for an issue with getting a DVD burner to work other than to watch a commercial DVD.
