I recently installed LL without any problems. As I was installing, it correctly found that I am in the UK and it suggested London for the time zone. Fine. However, when I checked later by running locale in a terminal screen, I found that the locale was set to the US. I had to change it to en_GB myself. Then, of course, I found that the Orage calendar was now showing Monday as the first day of the week. I like my weeks to start on a Sunday, so I had to change that too.

But my main query is, having found the correct time zone for me during installation, why did the installer set my locale to the US?
