LL 3.0 crashed by installation on Lifebook E Series

Sorry to hear you're still facing this road block

It just crossed my mind. I'd most probably download the corresponding Xubuntu version and see how that would install.
Sending though more info regarding your hardware is always good.

Also, when you did the installations, did you click this little arrow to see more details of the installation process? Did it get stuck always at the same package/ step of the installation?

well - PC is connect via cable not WiFi - Hardware does not show any irregularities. -
Question: Will be the System.log an helpful logfile? - Or the hardware listing?
What can I do to help you out with more info to detect the stumbling block?

Have you had a chance to cofirm with an ethernet connection by chance. Wifi could be iffy and giving grief, I had this on a wifi only device...

Or as mentioned by LL-user mentions possibly hardware

no information apears only the message "Installation failed - after closing this window you can create an logfile that will help to find out ..." and so on. You can only choise "close" - thats it.  As I said - If I could I would create such an logfile to enable you to find out why it will not be able to install it, but I do not know how to do.

This afternoon I will try it by using DVD.  Keep you informed.

update! - Installation via DVD also not succesfull -

after set up of hardware the process "install base system" beginns but the process aborted with the messeage above.
If I try to start from HD grub error appears /boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod not found" - but I believe this is meaning less because the installation therefore also grub is not setup completely.

Well - what can I try in addition?

Is there anything in the crash / error message that may lend information? Perhaps making note of the error or a screenshot/snapping a pic and uploading??

A side note, I had an install fail due to poor internet connectivity (the WiFi kept dropping) if possible try connecting hardwired (Ethernet cable) and install... It's worth a try...

I tried etcher - USB successfully created - again installation failed. (LL 3.0)
MD5SUM was checked and ok. This can not be the reason.
After crashing the message window shows that I can create an report - but I do not know how I can do that - If possible I can send this for find out the error.

By the way: using 3.0 - Bluetooth works also fine with Bulutoothbox and A2AD

Therfore if I will be able to install on HD it will be working as I need it.

thanks for your kind support and hints. Meanwhile I tested Kanotix with LXDE and it runs directly so called "out of the box".

If it's based on Ubuntu 16.04, then they added the .conf files Ubuntu left out of the /etc/bluetooth folder. If not, then they either figured it out themselves, or they saw the fix here and implemented it. Who knows?

But I want to answer your question maybe it will help to eleminate such problems I have had.

Well....  I tested LL 2.8 - 32 Bit - Installation finished successfull - but Bluetooth did not work as expected.

I can't see what the problem is - I tested a lot of small OS System (Puppy, Antix, LUbuntu and more) all with the same Bluetooth error -but all of them could be installed on HD after start from Live USB Stick.

I can only presume that your knowledge of the English language is limited. If we knew which language is native to you, perhaps we can arrange a translation.

Again... to get Bluetooth audio going in the 2.X series, READ *THIS* POST:

If you do what the tutorial suggests, you CAN and WILL get Bluetooth A2DP up and running - not ONLY in LL 2.8, but ALSO in all those OTHER distros on which you're trying to get Bluetooth audio working, without success. They ALL share the same problem and solution.

Personally, I've successfully used it on LL, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, and AntiX. Once more, I hope this points you in the right direction.

Next test - LL 3.0 - 32 Bit - Working with LL 3.0 was fine - also Bluetooth works as I needed. Installation check (Menu option by booting from USB) shows everything ok for installation - But installation failed at the end.

Third: LL 3.0 - 64 Bit - Same procedure as 3.0 - 32 and same result by installation.

Downloaded ISO Files are used to create Live-USB stick with Linux Live USB Creator.
What I did not do was the MD5 Check - but all 3 Versions started without failure message or errors.

For ME. LiLi successfully installed LL 3.0. Try the MD5 check. It's the ONLY way to know for sure the ISO downloaded correctly.

Since you used LiLi, I assume you're doing this in Windows. In THAT case,  you can download and extract MD5Summer (or another hash checker of your choice) to check the MD5SUMs available here:

Hi Dietmar,

If you're still interested to make the Linux Lite installation work I'd recommend two steps:

1. Do run the md5sum check!

2. Use a different method/app to create your LiveUSB device. Jerry is recently recommending Etcher. I'm generally using UNetbootin which is available in the repositories. I had situations that the LiveUSB creation went through without error message but installation of the OS failed, even if the Live session seemed to run without problems. After a second go at the creation all went well.

Hope that can motivate you to give it another try Linux Lite won't disappoint you. It's one of the best distros out there for Windows converts as well as Linux veterans who just want to work.

LL was one of the first distros, if not the first, to get A2DP Bluetooth audio up and running in the 14.04-based series. It was a team effort on the part of the user community here that was completed nearly two years ago.

To better help you with the LL 3.0 installer issues, we will need to know more about exactly how you tried installing (LiveCD or LiveUSB, how you created the USB stick and what you used to create it with, whether or not you verified that the ISO download was successful {MD5 check}, etc.)

Dear LL Users

I am completly new here and I hope to get help.

I was happy to found an system that directly recognizes the bluetooth speaker and connect it AD2D sink. Overall Linux Lite seems for me easy.

All other distris didn't. I wanted to install it now on HD but after "preparing hardware" the installer crashed and installation stopped.

I tried LL 2.8 and it finalized the installation without problems - but (as by all other Ubuntu Derivate) Bluetooth speaker connection fails.

I want to use 3.0 but what can I try to finalize the installation successfull

Ah... my system "Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook - E8310 with Centrino Duo" 4GB RAM
I know not the newest one but I want to use this Laptop only for playing music via the bluetooh speaker. For this it would be really sufficient.

edit: I tried as well 64bit version - same result - were can I found the log file of installation process? Or is it send automatically to an specified address?
