Release AnnouncementLinux Lite 3.6 Final is now available for download. There have been a number of changes since the 3.4 release. In this release, we introduce two major new features. Firstly, Lite Sources is a repository selector that allows you to easily select a software repository nearest to you. When new versions of Linux Lite branded applications are released, you'll now get much faster download speeds thanks to Lite Sources. The second newest feature for Linux Lite 3.6 is the inclusion of both an online and offline search engine for the Linux Lite Help Manual. Search results are highlighted to allow you to easily find the help content you need fast.See below for all the changes and how to use our new features.Presenting Linux Lite 3.6 FinalLite Sources - A new application for Linux Lite. This is the culmination of 4 free software projects rolled into one.The search engine has been designed in such a way that the end result produces an easy to understand UI. Development on the Firefox theme seems to have stalled and there are a number of unanswered issues on Github that are yet to be addressed. For this reason, the sensible thing to do is remove it as there are no guarantees it will play nice with future Firefox versions. If you have the Arc Firefox theme installed, I recommend disabling and/or removing it. In Firefox go to Tools, Addons, Appearance. The system wide Arc theme has nothing to do with this issue.Upgrading> Menu, Favorites, Install Updates (you must reboot if asked to, otherwise continue to the next step)> Set a Restore Point - Menu, System, Systemback> Menu, Settings, Lite UpgradeLite Upgrade - What it will do:- New Lite Sources- New Lite Welcome- New Lite Help Manual- New Lite Upgrade- New Wallpapers- Install the Arc theme for Thunderbird (globally)- Added Bluray support- Added Broadcom wireless support- Remove unattended upgrades and related Systemd start up services- Back up your existing config files to: /home/user/.llupgradebackup/3.4/ (or whatever version you are upgrading from)- Bug fixes, enhancementsLite Upgrade - What it won't do:- Change your samba conf file (people may already have a custom name set)There is no upgrade path to or from Beta releases. There is no upgrade path from Series 2 ( 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8 ) to Series 3.Developer credits for this release - Jerry Bezencon, Ralphy, Nicolas Bernaerts, Steve Pear, Michael Milette, Max BittkerDownloads:HTTP:Download 32bit from here - Linux Lite 3.6 Final 32bitmd5sum: 17d7fe242d51b2cce950d896137d2c35Size: 1015Mb (DVD, USB)Download 64bit from here - Linux Lite 3.6 Final 64bitmd5sum: 8990ebf49215360f0fde7ea53228a027Size: 1000mb (DVD, USB)TORRENTS:32bit Torrent from here - linux-lite-3.6-32bit.iso.torrentHash: cb678c6be0a3e74b9dfaf81ae55d7864908ec2cbSize: 1015Mb (DVD, USB)64bit Torrent from here - linux-lite-3.6-64bit.iso.torrentHash: 2d34271fe9bfdb0c6c707fda3267a6cf8f632310Size: 1000mb (DVD, USB)Live USB/DVD/VirtualBox/Vmware:Login is automatic, no credentials are required. Hi, I am using LL3.4 at the moment, can I upgrade to 3.6?DISTRIB_ID=UbuntuDISTRIB_RELEASE=16.04DISTRIB_CODENAME=xenialDISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Linux Lite 3.4"
Cheers firenice03. Following the steps to the letter will result in a dramaless upgrade. This was tested heavily. The upgrade code makes me nervous and paranoid to the point of running a number of testing scenarios to ensure quality. Sent from my Mobile phone using Tapatalk
.... Awesome work. I especially liked the new wallpapers! So cool. I put the new wallpaper (shown at top of OP) in as my bootup splash screen (not the xfce splash but the bootup splash) since it is soooo much better than the current yellow background with feather. Now I will feel extra-happy every time I boot up my machines. Thanks Jerry for such a great distro.
