Upgrading:

For those on Linux Lite 2.4 do the following:

1) Menu, Favorites, Install Updates.
2) Menu, Settings, Lite Upgrade.
3) Follow the onscreen instructions, reboot when finished.

eeePC 901

Done that but Wi-Fi adapter not detected, dmesg indicates adapter unblocked in BIOS but not present on PCI. Adapter is Ralink Corp RT2790 802.11n

Had to revert to LL2.4 from image taken before upgrade.

After reverting to LL2.4 I tried a live version of 2.6 and wi-fi worked ok. A new upgrade to 2.6 was successful so all is wel now. :) Gremlins at play!

Lite Control Centre looks good too.  :)

1) Lenovo T520 i5 LL3.8 8GB ram, fast & stable
2) Medion P4 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, quite fast & stable
3) eeePC 901 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, fast & stable
4) eeePC 701 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, slower & stable but small and light enough to travel with me to New Zealand when visiting family in Blenheim.

I'll be updating tonight  ;)
I've been running 2.6 beta on 1 system for about a week and 2.2 on another system for close to a year.
Great OS!!

On a side note...
I'm still new-ish to Linux and not sure if this was something in Beta or not, I haven't attempted to reproduce in 2.2, but... Last night I was messing with the wireless (typically this box is wired) and Unchecked the "Enable Wireless" option of the network manager. Since then the option to enable has gone away completely (Its not a laptop, FN+F2 isn't an option).
- It may be me but...

After my trip to Austin Texas ans my Linux-Lite laptop wireless failed to connect to my sons wireless router.
Let alone not even see it.

When I got home I installed WICD which is easier for me to trouble shoot and use. YMMV from mine though.

Code: [Select]
$ apt-cache policy wicd
wicd:
  Installed: 1.7.2.4-4.1ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1.7.2.4-4.1ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1.7.2.4-4.1ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

my trouble shooter is

Code: [Select]
netstat
Not sure if a update killed network manager for me. I tried re-installing and looking through /etc/resolv.conf.
It was just easier to install WICD and call it a day for me.

Thanks for the info, I may look into if still problems..
Think I updated from Beta to Final!!! Quick and Easy

Missing "Enable Wi-Fi" (Yes has a Wi-Fi usb; was seen prior to unchecking see next image)

What it looked like prior.

In case I wasn't explaining correctly ...
- I can move to another thread, not wanting to hijack

TIA

EDIT:
*I updated the Dell Mini from LL2.2 to 2.6 smooth as glass. KUDO's
** Figured out the Wi-Fi problem, looks like I blacklisted it... :(

The upgrade from 2.4 to 2.6 should be relatively quick.

It was; as was another donation in appreciation of Jerry's and his team's hard work for this great distro!  8)

Somehow also fixed problem with Thunderbird I had for for a day or so after running Lite Updates and getting 32.2.0. I was not getting a sound when getting new mail even though the preferences were still set for it. Don't understand as usual why it fixed it but glad it did. ::)

Thank you Coastie :)

Hello,
just starting to play with LL and so far it is impressive. Seems to work almost perfectly on my laptop where many distros failed.

I was trying the new SystemBack tool, but in a live session it doesn't seem to work. The interface buttons are all grey out, the only button available is the "system repair". I was trying to create a live system with my software installed but it doesn't seem possible in live. Did anyone achieve this? I can't install anything on this laptop unfortunately... and i'm running LL 2.6 in 32 bits on a FAT32 usb device in case it helps.
From what I could gather on the internet, it seems that SystemBack is either missing some packages (not sure which) or the kernel is not compatible. Anyone had more luck?

thanks

It doesn't work on live, you have to install LL to your pc for it to work.

If the developers don't care, would you (or they) be willing to put user names with real names?  I know who you are but I don't know who the rest are (even though I've seen some of their real names before).  Credit shouldn't just go to anonymous names.  :)
He never puts my name the way I want it lol. But I'm Johnathan "ShaggyTwoDope" Jenkins. Original author of the control center but meh lol.

Thanks to you, Shaggy!

Great and thanks. Upgraded successfully. Is there any plan that Linuxlite Control Center can be upgraded directly without the iso file?
It's in the repo for the LL. So it will be updated accordingly when updates are needed.
