Other / LinuxLite 6.4 Media Server (Running Gerbera) becomes unresponsive
« Last post by sqwuade on June 05, 2023, 10:52:49 PM »
Hi,  I've set up a Linux Lite 6.4 machine - kernel updated to latest -> 6.3.5 (Running on an old Dell Vostro 400 PC with a ntel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz proc, a 256Gb SSD for OS, an 8Tb Seagate HDD for media file storage and 4Gb RAM).  The machine works fine and servers up the files as UPnP/DLNA just as desired but it becomes unresponsive after a day or two.  I haven't made any changes to the LL power options (Sleep mode etc. are not turned on by default).  Does anyone have any suggestions on things to try?  :dft003:

Thanks!

UPDATE - I have several PCs of the same type and have been able to replicate the issue on a different system.  I set up LL6.4 on it, installed Gerbera (sudo apt install gerbera), moved some media files to the machine and confirmed UPnP/DLNA was working and streamed video to a smart TV on my LAN.  Then I let the system sit overnight and this morning the power light is still on but the UPnP/DLNA server is no longer visible on the LAN and the PC is no longer responsive to keyboard or mouse input either.

Security & Bug Fixes / Red border and padding on images
« Last post by Carlos Reges on June 04, 2023, 07:45:07 PM »
After the latest upgrade of the Linux Lite version from the terminal, red borders started appearing on all the images in web browsers (Firefox, Vivaldi, Brave). I haven't been able to fix it yet.

Updates / Install Updates Error log - CDROM
« Last post by Modifyinc on June 04, 2023, 07:18:37 PM »
Just downloaded and ran Linux Lite 6.4 from a bootable USB drive and was trying to install the 160 updates it said I needed to install, but failed. It told me to paste the log file to this forum.

So here you go:

Steve

I followed your last set of instructions and everything worked like a dream - system is now fully updated.

Many thanks for all your help and patience -  just goes to show, that with perseverance, you can educate an idiot  ;D

Looks like the Google Chrome Errors are fixed.

Still showing a problem with the Ubuntu archive repository.
You can continue to wait or try switching repository.

Click Menu
Begin typing 'Software' into the search bar
When you see 'Software & Updates' offered as a suggestion click it.

Click the pull down against the 'Download From' section and chose 'other'
You should then be offered a list of servers from which you can select a local one.

Enter your password when asked.

Then try updates to see if the one chosen works better.

On Topic / [ HELPFUL TIP ] Brave Browser wasn't working after updates, and this helped
« Last post by torreydale on May 31, 2023, 10:23:16 AM »
My Brave Browser wasn't working after running updates.  It would not fully render ANY webpages, but this helped:
https://community.brave.com/t/brave-suddenly-completely-unresponsive-in-ubuntu-22-04-2-lts/487395/2

As I wrote in that forum, I used the following:
From a terminal, I typed, “brave-browser --disable-gpu”. It opened a Brave session, and I went to settings. I did a search for the word “acceleration” and I clicked on Relaunch to re-open Brave with Hardware Acceleration turned off.

Hi Steve

I ran "sudo apt-get --allow-releaseinfo-change update" as suggested and this was the outcome

Is this what you would have expected and do I just need to wait for a day or two before running updates again to resolve this issue ?
