Not sure what part of the OS or packages are malfunctioning here. Running LL1.0.8
All windows are chopped off such that the right side of the window is gone. This includes the maximize, minimize and close buttons. This is happening on all windows. File mgr, terminal Tbird, firefox, filezilla... everything. I can not access menu functions on R side of windows like the mozilla stuff.
I tried starting in recovery mode and ran repair packages. Didn't work. I tried a system update didn't work. I am wondering if uninstalling and reinstalling windows mgr and or thunar might do the trick, but I don't know the commands to do this.
I also though about reinstalling the OS and ugrading to ver 2, but I don;t know if I have to backup files, which is a problem because I can't see the files that would be displaying on the right side of the file mgr windows.
Please help! I have work to do today and can't
Thanks
My laptop is dual boot with Win7 and Xubuntu. I would like to remove Xubuntu and install LL2. Not sure what to do. I don't want to mess up the Win7 system as my daughter needs Office and Photoshop for school.
When I installed Xubuntu I had 30gb free in Win7. I told the Xubuntu installer to use 12gb. When it finished Win7 had 8gb free and it used 22gb. Win7 is now a pain with very little free space. So...Could I allocate less space for Linux Lite and grow the Win7 partition a little? Is there a way to uninstall Xubuntu? What happens to the boot loader in all these changes?
My drive layout is below. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
sda1 ntfs 47.2 win7 Boot
sda3 extended 22.2
sda7 ext4 11.0 Xubuntu
sda5 ext4 9.2 Xubuntu
sda6 linux-swap2.0
sda2 fat32 5.0 IBM diagnostic

I have been having problems installing Wine and don't know why but when I open install/remove I get an error message. I have attached a copy of my system report. Please help if you can.

Hello,
I have this device AWUS036H for connecting to external wifi, it has its own antenna, I also I have a Yagi 25dBi external antenna, and also an internal 20dBi antenna.
They sent with it a printed photo tutorial, this was for accessing none public wifi by various means using a different Linux Distro.
This is not what I want to do, or how I want to use the equipment.
We have some free public access wifi hotspots at various locations, for everyone and also visitors to use. Not truly free as we pay for those services and don't have a choice in the matter as it is a tax.
I wanted to know which software to add to Linux Lite, that will -
1/ display the wifi it can find.
2/ show me which of those wifi are free public access , home or business, so I do not connect where I should not be connecting.
3/ inform me of the distance from my home the wifi connection is, as I want to do various comparisons between the 3 antenna under different conditions such as weather parameters, time of day, location and direction of the antenna.
4/ allow me to connect to the free public wifi.
1. Open the Thunar file manager
2. Click on Edit and then on Configure custom actions
3. Add A new custom action by clicking on a '+' button
4. Enter this in the text boxes:
Name: Check MD5
Description: Computes MD5 checksum for the selected file.
Command:
zenity --info --title="Check MD5 for %n" --text="$(md5sum %f)"5. Click on Appearance Conditions tab
6. In the File pattern enter:
*.iso;*.ISO;*.img;*.IMGIf you have an .iso or .img file on the Desktop you will have to log out and back in to be able to use this.
Now you can right-click on .iso or .img file and Check MD5.
I seem to be having the same difficulty as Tom47 described on this thread:-
https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/index...opic=741.0
I was also trying to install Chrome and kept getting the following Error notice:
ERROR
"Chrome could not be installed."
I tried the Install/Remove Software work-around suggested by gold-finger on the same thread but Synaptic keeps kicking me out with this:
AN ERROR OCCURED.
The following details are provided
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced the same issues and resolved them.
Newbie question - procedure.
Re Mozilla Thunderbird/Firefox. Periodically after I have opened Thunderbird or Firefox on the screen , and then think that I have minimised these, but I can not find them on the desktop bar at the bottom of the screen to maximise again. When trying to reopen them via the menu/internet/ route a message comes up that they are already open and the only way out is to either close the program concerned or restart and force close.
What is the procedure please to avoid restart and to "reopen/maximise" the program without the risk of losing any "current" work. Thanks
Running LL2.0 - but also noticed in Mint Maya on another PC
I am not sure if I am allowed to post software made by our selfs, just remove if its not allowed otherwise......
So since my change over to Linux I have really missed making software which was useful on windows using Delphi, I would normally make these software’s for personal use and then offer them for download for people who might also find them useful, nothing special just simple apps that could be useful to some.
So I finally installed Lazarus IDE and started making some linux useful apps(in my opinion) which is coded in free pascal, I am just starting with real simple stuff just to get use to the differences between free pascal and Delphi... anyway here is a Ohms law calculator for people who vape out there... I have included the windows one incase anyone wants it and also to see how the linux one will be later

I will be doing a Linux version with wire converting and coil builder calculation and also a juice mixer calculator, but for now just the basic linux version to see if there is any interest.
When I click Install Updates the terminal opens and just blinks then closes.
Menu:
Label: Install Updates
Command: lxterminal --geometry=95x25 -e ./updates
Description: Install Updates for your computer

Keep getting above error trying to post :-\
I looked about found other with same problem not found a solution for this. I'm not pretending to know what I'm doing with Linux. On boot computer hangs I get blue screen with text I pick top one then I get a black screen with a flashing cursors.
This keeps happening each time I boot was hoping on update would fix this.
How I get round this Boot get blue screen with text I pick top one then pull USB cable out back of computer then I get next screen image grey with feather and back bar loading at bottom once bar bar is starting to load I pug USB back in.
One booted in the keyboard works fine through the KVM, I have had a look at BIOS the boot order see about putting it 1st in list.
I also looked at keyboard setting can't see anything there.
I will look at Gold finger post about pressing left shift Link removed
Quote: pci noacpi to the kernel boot parameters allowed me to boot without disconnecting the usb kvm.Someone post this but I don't have a clue if it fixes problem or how.
Thanks
