[SOLVED] Chrome asks for keyring when starting

Hey LL Team, new user here! First, let me say that I love LL! Soooo aesthetically appealing and friendly! Couldn't be happier with 2.0!
So, here's my small problem (more of an annoyance, but enough for me to come to the forums for help).
This doesn't occur every time I start up Chrome, but seems to happen more frequently when I restart or start up my laptop. I access Google Chrome from the Whisker Menu, and while it's booting up, a prompt pops up asking me to unlock the keyring. It won't allow me to use Chrome unless I pop my password into the prompt. Tried searching the internet for a solution to the problem, but so far, can only find solutions involving older (around v10.10) versions of Ubuntu, or entering System>Preferences, which I can not find via the Whisker Menu search.Is there any way for me to stop this from happening?
Thank you to anyone and everyone who can help me solve this issue.

Tor Browser...

Noobie here! I'm a big fan of Linux Lite since April 2014 and have been using 2.0 on all of our machines since June (Hoping that this is the forum to ask this question, so bear with me). Everything has been fantastic, until the last major update late, last week. After the update, all of the machines have the Ubuntu 14.04 splash screen. Not really a big deal, however, we keep getting an error when we try to fire up the Tor Browser. It appears to start up and then nothing. When we try to open it again, we get a pop up window that says: Firefox is already running, but not responding...
I go into the task manager to close it, but, same problem when we try to reopen it. The only way to get it working is to restart the machine. has anyone else here run into this problem? and what did you do to correct it?
Thanks in advance!
Butelo

Atheros AR9485

I have a very recent Asus computer with an Atheros AR9485 wifi adapter. I have tested it with Lite and other Ubuntu variants. None of them recognize this adapter, yet it has been supported by Debian and the other distributions for years. Strangely, it does work in Manjero (I don't want to go there.....)
Does anybody know what to do in order to get wifi working?
(Thanks in advance.....)

I wanted to share my Linux Lite story with the rest of you.
I own a software application company. We program in C# and Silverlite and use both Azure and .Net environments. Last year we started hosting Azure on Ubuntu as an experiment. It worked out great. So I decided to put about a dozen machines on Linux for the employees who had non-technical jobs. I searched for a distro to use..... (Lots of protests though from the intended users.....)
I evaluated many distros but I found Linux Lite to be pretty intuitive and very flexible. So under lots of protests from my staff, I switched everyone to Lite. (I also faced a ton of hardware upgrades that Lite saved me from. I needed a lite weight Linux that was user friendly yet pretty complete....)
We started with version 1.8 and have now migrated to 2.0. It has been a year or so since the migration.
Of the 12 machines we migrated to Lite none of them have required much in the way of support. In fact, our real cost of support on a Windows PC is about $6,700 (CDN$) annually. With Linux Lite? About $1,200 annually.
And what about the users who protested so hard in the beginning? Eight of them are now running some version of Linux at home. (The other 4 have Macs....)
I am still a Linux Newbie in many ways. All of my machines were legacy machines. Happily I will not have to upgrade them for quite a while. To my staff, I am a genius. (Which by the way.... I am LOL!)
So Valtam I just wanted to say "thanks". I hope that by sharing my story, other people will become inspired to try the same thing.
As for that company from Redman? They are stunned.

MD5 Checksum Tool

It might be a good idea to consider including MD5 checksum utility in the repositories. A few weeks ago I have spent quite a while looking for one in Synaptic and on the web. The most popular seems to be GtkHash, but it can only compute checksums, it doesn't have "compare" function:
http://gtkhash.sourceforge.net/
I have eventually found one tool that can verify checksums, Checksums Calculator. It's portable, there is no installer, you just need to unzip it to a custom directory, set permissions and create menu shortcut:

1.0.8 Grub Menu Issue

I started using Lite 1.0.8 about 7 months ago, my first immersion into Linux/Ubuntu. I recently fooled with Lubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 12.04, and Lite 2.0, figured I'm comfortable enough with Linux. I had problems with every one of those distros...mostly freeze ups, boot/startup problems and weird "scrambled" screens where I had to power off my pc altogether in order to fix it. With Lite 2.0 I had Firefox and XBMC issues, Lubuntu and XBMC didn't work, Ubuntu had me install hardware support then ceased to bootup. I ended up reinstalling 1.0.8 and it is running like a dream. Stable, fast, smooth, not bulky...I didn't realize how well it works til I experimented with the other distros. 1.0.8 is awesome for the everyday desktop user, which is me. The slogan is true, "it just works"!
But my problem is...I can't get a grub menu to show up. I run sudo update-grub so I know my OS option is 6 arrow keys down but im looking at a black screen. My monitor says "frequency out of range" where the menu should be. Do I edit the settings thru gksudo leafpad command? The bootup/splash screen is my one fuss with LL.

Opening MS Office files by default with MS Office

Hello,
I want to open all .doc/.docx , .xls/.xlsx and .ppt/.pptx by default with Microsoft Office.
I installed Microsoft Office 2003 with Wine and it's working fine.
In Ubuntu or Linux Mint, you can just open a file (like .doc), select properties open with choose MS Word and clck 'set as default'.
In Linux Lite I could not find this option. (Btw. would be great if this feature would come with the next version )
Anyway there is the seccond option of editing the /usr/share/applications/defaults.list . So I tried this:
First I copied the starters of MS Office from the start menu into /usr/share/applications/ :
Microsoft Word:
Code: [Desktop Entry]
Name=Microsoft Office Word 2003
Exec=env WINEPREFIX="/home/jurgen/.wine" wine C:\\\\windows\\\\command\\\\start.exe /Unix /home/jurgen/.wine/dosdevices/c:/users/jurgen/Start\\ Menu/Programs/Microsoft\\ Office/Microsoft\\ Office\\ Word\\ 2003.lnk
Type=Application
StartupNotify=true
Comment=Erstellen und ändern Sie Text und Grafik in Briefen, Berichten und Webseiten oder E-Mails - Microsoft Office Word macht's möglich.
Icon=1282_wordicon.0
Then I opened the defaults.list with sudo.
And found this entry:
Code: application/msword=libreoffice-writer.desktop;
I changed it to:
Code: application/msword=“Microsoft Office Word 2003.desktop“;
I tried it with and without ""
I did a reboot and opened a .doc file and still Libre Office Writer was the default launcher.
I don't know what I' am doing wrong.
Is there maybe a more easy way of doing this?
Greets,
rayon
PS: I personally like Libre Office, I am doing this for someone else

Dear LL Team,
I have installed Wine update and run windows based flash tutorial CD's for my children, The video works grate (The tutorial is made by Flash) but the audio doesn't flow to System speaker. I went to the Configure Wine and set all the audio options to pulse audio still doesn't play to speaker.
I pressed the test audio tab in wine configure, no response.
The CD video & audio works fine with Windows
Any help to resolve this?
