Updating Linux Lite Live USB not working
Posted by: Rogue Willie - 05-29-2015, 04:32 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (19)

I have been able to boot from a USB stick. When I first checked for updates I couldn't get my wireless adapter to work. It turns out it wasn't Linux compatible. Got a new adapter and was eventually able to connect. When i checked for updates it downloaded about 80 packets or so and started the install. After installing a message came that said installation failed. I thought it might have been a poor wireless connection so I moved it from the garage and hooked it up via a cable. After all the updates and install I got the same failed message. Any thoughts?

  Keyboard media keys
Posted by: kris - 05-28-2015, 12:08 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (4)

So i have this keyboard which I use for a while now, and all around the standard keys which you (should) have on any keyboard, there are 12 media keys. Those are supposed to be shortcuts to calculator, home folder, mail etc. And they all work fine in windows, but not in linux.
So i searched a bit, and found installed-by-default editor for keyboard, called "keyboard" in whisker menu. It is just about perfect, but I just can't seem to find which commands to use for play/pause media button, and next/previous also.
Anybody any ideas?
Thanks in advance... Smile

Item - Request - Touchpad disable script inclusion.
Posted by: sysdrum - 05-27-2015, 02:28 PM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (4)

I have a simple synaptic touchpad script that disables and re-enables the touchpad given a key press for those who would like to have more control when typing on some laptops. I would like to have it included in the scripts folder and maybe a note about it. I know that under the mouse and touchpad settings you can enable and disable plus set a delay when typing but sometimes that is not usable. For those using a usb mouse a quick key option would be nice so that they can turn it on and off without having to use the menu.
It is a simple yet nice feature that other distros don't have.
It is on my github.
I can post it here for review.

hide/unhide active window via Window Buttons
Posted by: stop0x0000000a - 05-27-2015, 07:09 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (3)

Hello

Probably that is an easy interface question, but could not find it out with Settings.

Is there a way to disable active window hiding?

For instance I've got two FireFox windows “abc.com” and  “def.com”, “abc” is active and on top.

If I click it again via Window Buttons – abc.com hides and and I got def.com that was hidden behind.

Usually I got 30-40 windows opened and used to click the Panel first no matter that's opened/active now.
If abc is already on top, it disappears and I got wrong window - is there any way to prevent it?

Hello,

I am an experienced ssh user but haven't tried GUI so far.
Looking for XP replacement.

Seems LL will do, it has been running two my desktops and one VBox image for 2 months.
So far so good, thanks for the distro!

  WPS Office
Posted by: jlschwartz - 05-26-2015, 11:49 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (2)

I installed the subject office software but it does not show up in the Office Folder on the Menu but in another folder called Other.  Did that not install correctly?  I expected to be in the Office folder.  I did not see WPS as an option to install using the Lite software system.  Thanks.

Edit: Also, can you tell me if I can change the menu to move the WPS Office files into the Office Folder.  Thanks.
