I am doing a little proselytizing for Linux Lite and hopefully reviving a Linux Users Group or Linux Special Interest Group in my area.
"... I have been looking for an active LUG or Linux SIG in Knoxville area since I left Mac OS X for Linux as my primary OS in Jan 2014. I also thought this Facebook group was dead too until I checked again today and saw some resent posts. I am on the KLUG http://utklug.org/#page-top mailing list but have not been able to stir up any interest in meetings. I can remember when I tried Linux unsuccessfully before that KLUG, Knoxville/Oak Ridge LUG, and a Linux SIG in the East Tennessee Computer Society www.etcs.org/ were all active. Dave Hester wrote on 9/7/15, "A possible idea would be to setup a meetup.com group and just list this facebook group as the "homepage" That might attract more people. ..."
I would like to attend an active LUG or Linux SIG in the Knoxville area. I am sure if there is is interest in starting another Linux SIG within the East Tennessee Computer Society http://www.etcs.org/, it would be welcomed."http://www.facebook.com/groups/10197206670/
Hi,
I'm currently working with dev on systemback not running a new fresh LL2.6(64bit)install.
I have never had an issue with systemback not running, but this is my 1st 2.6 install
All my other installs have been 2.0/2.4, then I have upgraded them to 2.6
I wonder if somebody can check on a straight 2.6 install, not an upgrade to 2.6
The symptoms are:
If I,
select the Menu > System > Systemback then NO GUI
If in a terminal I,
gksu systembackIf in a terminal I,
/usr/lib/systemback/sbsustart systemback gtk+I then get the message:
An error occurred while executing the following command:
systemback authorization dave
Exit code: 255
Thanks... Dave
Hi friends,
I have a very bad displaying using Libreoffice, so I can't use it; may be it's a known issue, but I didn't find anything on the web.
Can you help me?
Thanks
I have Linux Lite 2.6 installed on an old IBM ThinkPad A31p which doesn't have an internal wireless adapter, so I purchased a cheap USB adapter on Amazon, brand unknown. It came with a CD with the driver, but I don't know how to install the driver from the CD. I have tried to use the GDebi package installer, but got this error:
dpkg: error processing archive firmware-ralink_0.43_all.deb (--install):
trying to overwrite '/lib/firmware/rt3290.bin', which is also in package linux-firmware 1.127.15
Errors were encountered while processing:
firmware-ralink_0.43_all.deb
Can anyone help me? Thanks

Okay I am boot both linux lite 32bit and 64bit version off of a single usb using yumi. What would be the easiest way to get data persistence on both versions? If possible I would like to have more than four Gigs of storage.
Hi folks,
There was a major security upgrade to the Forums today. In the interests of getting this patch applied as quickly as possible, there was a minor casualty in the process.
You will need to re-apply your Country flag if you want it to show.
Go to: Profile -> Forum Profile to reselect your country.
If there are any other bugs from todays upgrade, please let me know in this thread.
Apologies for this
Hello ! I am new to this forum. Recently been using Linux lite 2.6 on an old laptop Acer aspire 5100. This system I really like it, works well and fast. But there is a problem-when you try to install the update throws an error message -" could not fetch the package cache information lists". Is there a solution to this problem? Still can't log in Lite Software. Perhaps the problem is that I live in Crimea? Thanks in advance for your help.
I hope I'm in the right place for this question. I have a picture I want to make my background. I've followed the instructions, at least I think I did, but can't get my picture to move from the usb finger drive to the folder that holds the background pictures. At 77 I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box, but I can usually muddle through things and get them to work. I can't seem to quite catch this one.
Thanks,
Gramps

Hello everyone. I have been using systemback since I upgraded to LL 2.6. Great tool, however
I need to backup TO my Debian home server with SMB share drives. I searched launchpad systemback info for "network backup" and got no results. I see no point in backing up locally, if my HDD fails it is all gone.
Maybe backup then transfer the backup to my server ?
Is this possible or is there an easier/different way that I am missing ?
Hi guys,
I've got a compound problem with the Whisker Menu. I have a portable Windows .exe utility that I store in the /opt hierarchy. I can access and execute it in Thunar with one click without problem. But I didn't want to go looking for it each time, so I opened the Main Menu configurator and added a launcher to it.
The first problem is that the launcher fails with "permission denied". I can't figure that out since it launches from the file manager without elevation.
The second problem is that though I can see the launcher in the Main Menu, it is not present in the configurator, so I cannot edit or delete it.
Any help sorting this out would be appreciated.
