Hello to all here. I've been gone for a bit and now have a different computer. I'm a bit older than last time I was here. I'll be 79 in January. Hope ya'll can put up with me and my questions. I have a lot of them. Had a bit of a fall on the farm last September and broke my arm, that seems to have caused a blood clot. Blood clot broke loose later and caused a stroke. So sometimes I have a bit of a hard time making things work the way I want. Young fella that hunts on my farm fixed up and gave me this computer. Lot faster than my old one. It had Windows 7 on it, now it has Linux Lite, the new version.
My computer is a Dell 1545 notebook that has been souped up a bit. It has a Intel P8700 cpu, 4 GB of memory, and a 160 GB hard drive. Well, I realized I have been rambling so I'll go away. Having a bit of trouble getting some things on it to work right in Lite.

So long for now,
Gramps

Hi to all.

Just FYI.
While installing LL (ver. 2.4 x32 or/and ver. 3.2 x64) with Russian language, installation failing on the last steps.

Don't remember exact error. Something generic. And surely before GRUB installation as system not booting after this failure.
Same hardware, same USB installer - successful installation with en-US locale.
I'm writing now from this laptop.
DELL VOSTRO 1500.

Will try now to change locale to ru-RU and see what happens.

I'm having some issues with LL 3.2. I've looked in Settings Manager but can't seem to find the solutions to my problems, which are as follows:

- The icons in the panel must be fixed to the right at all times. I don't have this problem with 2.8 but with 3.2 they kind of "follow along" with the number of programs open. There is a "Lock panel" but it doesn't seem to have an effect on... anything.

- Some kind of boundary/edge between programs in panel. Currently the browser is highlit, but between "Menu" and "Command Line" there is no edge. That'd be nice to have.

- Clearer boundaries on windows. Title panels (where it says "Start new topic - Chromium" or "Command Line") blend almost perfectly when put side by side, it gets a bit blurry or how to put it.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I seemed to have accidentally changed a shortcut. The default shortcut for going back in a browser is erase, but now it's alt+left arrow. How do I change this?

Hi,I try to find a password manager/safe. Does anyone have an idea?
So far I tried " Keepass" on my android phone and on an usbstick with my Windows laptop for work. I dont know if there is something for LL. If so? Is it possible to sync it with my Synology Nas? And how to do that?
I realise that this are a lot of questions, but a direction where to look or read would be much apreciate.

Forum: Printing and Scanning

Hi! If anyone can help me kindly do so.  I have a Epson L210 printer, that prints and scans ok in Window 7. My problem is when I tried and installed Linux Lite 3.2.  I am quite a familiar with Linux lite, Lubuntu, AntiX and some other Linux distros but I must say I am not an expert --more like a user I should say.  Anyway, I installed the linux (debian) drivers (inkjet driver and iscan bundle driver for scanner) of the aforementioned printer I got from Epson.  The printer driver works great, I can print.  Problem is the scanner.  Surfing the net I found an advice and did sane-find-scanner:

$ sane-find-scanner

(and this is the result):
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
  # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
  # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

  # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
  # you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

  # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
  # SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.

  # Not checking for parallel port scanners.

  # Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
  # can't be detected by this program.

  # You may want to run this program as root to find all devices. Once you
  # found the scanner devices, be sure to adjust access permissions as
  # necessary.

I connected this printer/scanner on two desktops, one running Linux Lite 3.2 and the other Lubuntu 16.04 (LTS) and the scanner drivers did not work on both machines.

I have already downloaded the latest driver iscan-bundle-1.0.2.x86.deb.tar.gz (32bit) which has:
    1. core (iscan.2.30.2-2_i386.deb)
    2. data (iscan-data_1.37.0-3_all.deb)
    3. plugin (iscan-network-nt_1.1.1-1_i386.deb)

And yes I already read the links (http://askubuntu.com/questions/783227/ho...ubtu-16-04 and http://askubuntu.com/questions/724323/ho...10-scanner) and have followed the instructions on how to install (./install.sh in terminal) but the scanner still didn't do anything when I opened ImageScan for Linux.

Like I said earlier, I am not an expert on Linux so I am quite confused what is that I did wrong.  Anyone who wants to help me I'd be grateful.

At the risk of being accused of fear mongering, I will post this caution anyway particularly since I happen to like Chromium. It is a recent warning.

Hello, this is my 2nd post here...
I have tried connecting my LG V20 phone to the computer in attempt to transfer photos to my OS.
But when the file manager loads after clicking on the phone icon, the proper folders come up and I
go into the internal folder and then click on the Camera folder where the photos would be stored. But
then all of a sudden, everytime, it comes back with FAILED TO MOUNT LG. What?? I was just in it!!

How do I transfer photos from my phone to this OS? Haven't had an issue for over a year with other
distros. Why this one?

Hi, this is my first post here... I just installed this distro a few days ago and am loving it, so far. But I have a few concerns which I will address in various posts.

I'm just curious since I found KDEConnect in the synaptic software manager... is there ANY way to get it to work in Linux Lite even though this is not a KDE distro?

It would be so great if this would work! I usually run KDE OS's and already I miss this feature. But the Linux Lite distro out of MANY is one that is the least problematic
running on my system, even though my system isn't THAT old.

Any ideas on how to get KDEConnect to run on this distro... again, would be great!
