| Unable to get Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner working in Linux Lite 3.2 |

Epson Perfection V500 flatbed scanner worked fine in LL2 series but not with LL3 series.
Output from terminal is as follows:
Code: mike@mike-G750JS:~$ sudo sane-find-scanner
[sudo] password for mike:
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
# result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
# scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.
# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x0130 [EPSON Scanner]) at libusb:003:002
# Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
# SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
# Not checking for parallel port scanners.
# Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
# can't be detected by this program.
mike@mike-G750JS:~$ sudo scanimage -L
device `epkowa:interpreter:003:002' is a Epson Perfection V500 flatbed scanner
mike@mike-G750JS:~$ iscan
From the above, the scanner seems to be detected but subsequently running the 'scan' command results in the following iscan notification: 'Could not send command to scanner. Check the scanner's status.'
I'm clueless as to what to do next... extremely frustrating
Mike
I suspect with the following installed before running with 'iscan':

Alright, I'm a new Linux user and can't be happier with how Linux Lite has breathed new life into my formerly unusably slow laptop...
EXCEPT, I can't get the wireless to show up.
After trying to find new drivers (I didn't) I've done a bit of snooping around here for solutions and ran rfkill and got the following:
0: acer-wireless: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
Which says to me that my Wireless LAN should be working, right? Yet when I click my internet connections, the wired option is the only one that appears.
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
If it helps the output from inxi -n is:
Network: Card-1: Broadcom BCM4401-B0 100Base-TX driver: b44
IF: eth0 state: up speed: 100 Mbps duplex: full
mac: 00:16:d4:a8:c7:e5
Card-2: Broadcom BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller
driver: b43-pci-bridge
IF: N/A state: N/A mac: N/A

Was at the Dentist yesterday for a six month check.
While I was in the chair the dentist booted up his computer to get my dental records.
It was running Windows XP .
How many organisations are still running obsolete operating systems........With your personal data on them. :o :o :o

Can some please fur ther explain this yellow box to me. I'm fairly new to this and don't understand what I'm looking at since there is no direct command and example. I don't understand the copy area in the yellow box and how I'm supposed to modify it. I coped this from the help manual:
Terminal Command:
sudo leafpad /etc/rc.local
Above the line exit 0 in that file, add the TRIM command fstrim -v for every EXT4 partition from your fstab file.
Copy the text below and edit it to match your set up. We include the creation of a log for you so you can check if trim is performed during boot up. The log is in /var/log/trim.log
#!/bin/sh -e
#
# rc.local
#
# This script is executed at the end of each multiuser runlevel.
# Make sure that the script will "exit 0" on success or any other
# value on error.
#
# In order to enable or disable this script just change the execution
# bits.
#
# By default this script does nothing.
LOG=/var/log/trim.log
echo “*** $(date -R) ***” >> $LOG
fstrim -v /boot >> $LOG
fstrim -v / >> $LOG
fstrim -v /home >> $LOG
echo " " >> $LOG
exit 0
