Can’t connect Wired Ethernet
(I can connect by USB wireless dongle as below)
Ip Address: 192.168.1.187
Boradcast Add: 192.168.1.255
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Route: 192.168.1.254
Primary DNS: 192.168.1.254
I am Using help - Network html page on Linux lite site.
Enable Networking is ticked.
I cannot click the wired Ethernet connection as it is grayed out.
I click on Edit connections
Network connections:
Ethernet
Wired connection 1
Wi-Fi
BT etc connected now
Edit Connections:
I select Editing Wired connection 1 (ipv4 settings)
I select: Method Manual then Add and input
Address 192.168.1.178
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.254
DNS server: 192.168.1.254
I click on save and restart the machine ….the wired network is still greyed out.

My name is Miroslav and I just want to say that I am grateful for the open source development and also for making this distro. Linux Lite saved my work on my old laptop. I know it is based on Ubuntu but it runs smoother than its origin. No idea how or way, I'm guessing that is real indicator of how much effort has been put into this distro. This is not just for beginners.

| Samba [SOLVED] |

Hello,
this week there were quite a few updates for Samba.
I noticed tonight when checking UFW, there were Samba rules that bypass the default Deny incoming, by having an "allow connections from ANYWHERE" in capitals like this from a range of ports.
Ufw would not allow editing of this rule saying Ufw had made the rule.
I removed these rules rebooted and checked again if they had enabled on startup, they are currently not enabled, I will keep an eye on it.
I would suggest everyone checks their current ufw status to ensure it is not allowing access from anywhere to their system since these updates from Ubuntu.

I always forget the introduction part.....I can't remember where I came across Lite, but I thought I would try it on my old Compaq...I'm already using another Linux distro and have been for some time....I have a nas4free box and a headless Ubuntu server running a media server.
I still use W10 as I do IT support for a local school and some software I use is predominantly for Windows...I have tested it under wine but it can be flakey and a pia to set up, but generally I use Linux for everything. As far as Linux is concerned google is your friend, there's loads of information out there.

| Sound problem in Linux Lite 3.4 |

Hi,
I got a problem with the sound of a laptop (Acer Aspire 5610). I Install the last version of Linux Lite (3.4) and I have no sound. The audio card is a Intel Corporation NM10/ICH7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02). After hours I can only listen to the audio if I type alsactl init in the console (command line).
Can anyone help me?, it's very stressing
