LL3.8 on HP Pavilion
Posted by: CSNLinux - 05-13-2018, 08:32 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (6)

2day I found myself a HP Pavilion laptop running on Windows10 64bit

I made a flash USB stick with rufus and the Original ISO.
On some way the laptop refuses to boot from flash. During systemboot I can see it wants to boot from flash (slashing light on usb-stick) but after a few blinks it chooses to boot from hard disk.

any tips ont this one?

  Sending Hardware Information

I see that Ubuntu and UbuMate now have a send hardware info tool, a variation of our Linux innovation. What do you guys think of their variation?

  Hello from Russia
Posted by: NN - 05-13-2018, 04:03 AM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (26)

Hello, everybody!

I am sorry for my English as it is not my native language. I have recently switched to Linux from Windows which I used for almost 20 years and I am rather an advanced user in Windows, but in Linux I am still a beginner as I have been using it for only about a year or so. I had tried some lightweight distributions until I found Linux Lite 3.8 as XFCE is my favourite desktop environment, and it really revived my old netbook. This distribution is faster compared to Windows, secure and easy to use, although I have some questions on Linux and LL that have led me to this forum.

Many thanks to the developers of LL for your work and such an excellent distribution! All the best to you!

google chrome does not have this problem.

how can i fix this ?, is there something i need to install ?. please help.

in firefox i ordered something on line , i went to print the receipt, and alot of text and graphics was missing, i had to do a screen shot, and then print it .

  Firefox, Hide Title Bar
Posted by: Scott(0) - 05-12-2018, 09:07 PM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (2)

For those not aware, the title bar can be hidden in Firefox:

Open Firefox
Click on the menu icon (upper right corner, 3 small horizontal lines)
Customize
Uncheck "Title Bar" (in lower left corner)

I'm doing this in LL4-Beta and I think it looks great, even more useful if you have a small screen.

Disable Sticky Keys Prior to Login
Posted by: john.silberman - 05-11-2018, 01:28 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (7)

I recently installed Linux Lite on my Acer Aspire One netbook.  The OS is performing as anticipated bringing new life to my netbook.  The one issue I have not resolved with the initial installation/set up is the sticky keys.  Sticky keys defaulted to enable even though they were not enabled in settings.  After toggling the settings, the sticky keys no longer remain enabled except during log in.  So when I enter my password at login, I need to remember to have the fn key depressed, once logged in keyboard works just fine.  I see no settings in the bios to correct the issue.  I have no issue with other Linux distros (Ubuntu & Ubuntu Mate).  Are there any suggestions to disable sticky keys prior to login.
