Hi there... I'm a windows user coming to Linux for the 1st time.. as I wanted to try something new and lite weight to run on one of my old laptops... I was able to get BunsenLabs working fine.. but found the usage to be hard to grasp.. so google told me that this is a good "distro" to use for windows users who are beginners and also runs well on low power systems.

• I downloaded the ISO fomr your website.
  
• I used "Win32DiskImager" to copy the ISO onto my USB stick
  
• It booted fine
  
• I loaded the application and had a play around.. seems ok and I liked the familiar feeling of it
  
• Clicked the Install Icon and followed the wizard
  
• The app asks me to "reboot"
  
• I remove the USB disk and roboot
  

So this is where the problems starts... it seems to be working.. but kinda not working. All I get is a blank screen after much hard drive thrashing, I even get a small "wait" kind of circle icon appear... and I tried pressing "enter" and "f4"... enter dosn't seem to do anything F4 shows some text, that says "press enter" and pressing that will go back to blank screen and I again see the "wait" cirle dot thing for a bit... if I leave it long enough eventually the screen goes dark apart form a small underscore in the top left hand corner. ENTER and F4 do not do anything now.

Any ideas?

I installed LL 4.0 2 days ago without any problem, I selected to install LL on the whole volume and everything was going fast.


Today, as I verified my hard disk, I saw that no SWAP partition was existing !!!


In fact, as I have 4 GB of RAM, my LL doesn(t need to swap.....but what will happen if it needs ??


Or, may be I did someting wrong during installation ?

Hello i'm trying to migrate away from ManjaroLinux because i received a humongo root-kit which i fear reaches into my BIOS.

I am able to use the ISO to install an image, do configuration, and whatever else my heart desires, even checking the HDD -var, -lib and -bin folders to make sure my changes have taken effect, during Live/Safe Mode, however all my changes get reverted (I'm staring at a black screen for 7 minutes...) before i get to the logon screen.

i cannot make any of my changes or updates stick.

How can i be sure i am not writing to my RAMDISK ??

The rootkit owns 2 of my CPU computing cores: htop tells me i'm using 2% of my computing resources, however my cpu fan is whirring loud enough to cut blades of grass i might be compelled to hurl into the vents. This malware runs on linux. The days of my feeling safe about any OS are over. If you're not using an API renaming system, on a heterogenous ie non-derivative Kernel, and a THEOREM PROVER such as Isabelle or HOL to verify the correctness of an operating system-- along with some form of AI just to keep up the patch releases then..goodbye Linux. Hello Microsoft. Please hire me because atleast i know i dont know what i'm doing

nice to see on this board. im a big fan of linux/Gnu from wkwkw land (also known as Indonesia). so this is my 4th trial installation on different kind of distros such as mint, manjaro, ubuntu with various DE and the last is this lite. i think that is the final decision distro i have to use for long period is a lite. it is because of the simplicity i loved it.

talking about this development, i really want to donate to this lite project but i have no paypal account but just local bank account so it is very hard for me. is there any solution for that ? any answer will be apreciated here.

I am new here and a bit of a linux noobie.

Vmware version 12.1 ( with plenty of resources)

I just ran the install updates and did the reboot after it requested. I am having issues after the update with it powering up. After the updates during the boot up sequence it gets to this point Modem Manager Service it seems to get stopped after with this.

I only see this if i login using a terminal otherwise the GUI login screen is just a black screen.

When Shift or Alt+F1 to go to Terminal I can login that way but when i startx it either goes to the black screen again or it tells me

Xauth: timeout in locking authority file

sudo startx i did get in once under the root login.
however now i get xinit: server error

I have searched and can't find a fix for this.
I have tried the PAEVM=TRUE in the .vmx
I know also that this doesn't have Virtual Box installed on it.

Does anyone have any ideas? Can this be fixed or am I screwed with a fresh install?
I believe i have included all the details if i am missing anything please let me know.

I have a Canon MX922 all-in-one printer that I'm trying to make work with LL, along with a Win 10 desktop and a Win 7 laptop but I've been trying to set it all up for 2 days and have gotten nowhere.

The printer was originally set up in Windows 10, then the Win 7 laptop was added and file and printer sharing is enabled on the Win 10 machine.

The printer shows up under network printers and I can click on it and proceed.  The drivers are found, etc.  However, when I get to the page where asked to describe the printer, printer name, location and click 'Apply', I get the following error: 'server-error-internal-error'

Quite a bit of my hair has accumulated around the computer desk so I've come to beg for help in making this printer work before i lose any more!

Please remember I'm very new at Linux so very specific instructions are needed.
