  Screenshots
Posted by: mdiemer - 01-29-2019, 08:49 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (7)

My skills as far as posting screenshots are not good. I have done it successfully, but recently when I tried, I had a problem. I took the screenshot, opened it in Gimp, which saved it as an xcf file, and I then tried to upload it to Box.com. However, Box doesn't accept that kind of file. I tried to convert it one they did accept, but I don't seem to have a tool to do with.

Can someone tell me the best way to upload a screenshot to the forum? I have searched the manual on this, as well as tutorials, but came up with nothing.

Thanks  :-[

Hello again
I work in a educational institution and we have a classroom with 16 PC's with Linux Lite 4.2 installed. I have a problem, the students are changing the institution official wallpaper constantly, even with inappropriate photos.

I would like to block the possibility of change the wallpaper, or a solution that makes this official wallpaper sets when a new sessión starts (with a script)
¿Can you help me?

Are There System Defaults For Desktop?
Posted by: mdiemer - 01-29-2019, 05:29 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (3)

I messed up my panel, so that it won't render below a certain size (which is way too fat). I can't find where there is a way to reset everything to default settings.

  Lite Tools Category In Menu
Posted by: Moltke - 01-28-2019, 04:46 PM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (9)

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice life! Smile I noticed that each and every Lite tool is under settings category and while I understand the logic behind this, I wonder if having them under their own category in the menu wouldn't be a better approach; easier to find and adds up to LL personality Smile I tried doing it myself but there's no option to create a new category with menulibre, or at least I couldn't figure out how to do it.  Tongue

Minimized Windows not Showing Up On Panel
Posted by: mdiemer - 01-28-2019, 03:24 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (7)

When I minimize a windows, shouldn't it be shown on the bottom panel? So you can click on it to bring it up?
It's not happening on my setup. I often "lose" windows that way, and have to keep hitting alt + tab to find them again.

Thanks,

Mike

A fun informative article to read
Posted by: Moltke - 01-27-2019, 04:17 PM - Forum: Off Topic - No Replies

I recently forgot my debit card pin number Sad I remembered the numbers cause I always use the same ones but change the sequence and used to write it down but last time I forgot to do it and well...While I was googling for a way to generate the possible combinations for those numbers I found this article (yes, I know. I could just write all the possible combinations down in a piece of paper but I felt kind of lazy  Tongue) http://www.datagenetics.com/blog/september32012/ and thought of sharing here. Hope you enjoy it just as I did. Smile

Power Management question on ver 4.2
Posted by: smhardesty - 01-25-2019, 05:42 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (6)

WOW! Long time, no post! I can't believe how long it has been since I was on the forum and posted anything. I have checked in once in a while to read over a few threads, but I've been swamped with other issues.

So, with egg on my face, here is my question. I have a buddy that finally decided to give Lite a whirl. He downloaded and installed ver 4.2 and I just recently upgraded my install from ver 3.4 to ver 3.8 so I can't really compare my laptop to his desktop, version to version. I have absolutely ZERO problems which is probably at least one of the reasons I haven't been around on the forum. I've got ver 3.8 now on both my laptop and my wife's and both have been trucking along merrily for a year and a half with ZERO glitches.

Anyway, on with the question. My buddy had issues with Power Management on his install. He couldn't get his PC to sleep. By the way, he installed on a desktop PC, then manually added the Power Manager Plugin to the panel. He uses a Logitech wireless mouse that he wanted to keep tabs on then he also wanted to put his monitor to sleep since he leaves his PCs running 24/7. I have tried talking him through the issue via emails and texts. I have also searched the forum for similar problems. I can find no reference to anything similar so thought I'd just ask.

Has anybody experienced a problem with Power Management not wanting to put a monitor to sleep in ver 4.x, or for that matter, with any version? If so, how did you resolve the issue?

And hello Jerry and gang! 8)

My Asus G750 gaming laptop is now officially dead ...!
Posted by: m654321 - 01-25-2019, 05:19 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (35)

The other day, I was downloading videos on a G750 Asus laptop, without any issues as usual. I've had it for only 4 years. When I went to use it the following day, it refused to switch on, and the LED status lights on the front of the chassis didn't light up at all. I did the usual thing like check the power supply (it was fine). I took it to our local and very excellent computer repair shop and they checked everything but couldn't get it to work.  They said they see this quite a lot with gaming laptops, often overheating and the motherboard then breaks down.

Wondered if you had a similar experience. Really disapointing as these laptops are really expensive - the 17" one I had was ~ £1200 - never again - I think I'll go for a Raspberry pi instead, LOL  :Smile
