  Does flatpak increases ram usage?
Posted by: aquasp - 06-08-2020, 02:59 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (7)

Well, I was going to install flatpak, but I really don't know if it creates a background service that will use more ram and cpu. Anyone know about it? Thanks!

AMD Firepro W7100 and AMD drivers on LL 5.0?
Posted by: icedigger - 06-08-2020, 02:05 PM - Forum: Video Cards - No Replies

I just installed 5.0 on my work desktop and am loving it so far!

Everything works great out of the box.

Question about the Video drivers, especially the AMD ones.

I know NVIDIA has its own proprietary drivers that you have to install but AMD does also but doesn't look easy like installing the NVIDIA one.

What is the best way to install the Firepro W7100 drivers from AMDs site?  I am only seeing Ubuntu 18.04 being supported for it and not the one the new LL is based off of?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Also thank you for all your hard work Jerry and the gang!

  System Tray weirdness
Posted by: DeepThought - 06-08-2020, 06:09 AM - Forum: On Topic - No Replies

[member=2]Jerry[/member]

Linux Lite 5.0 installed with no problem.
I installed wine so that I can use the chat program mIRC and I have mirc set to minimise to tray when not in use and this is the weird part. The mirc icon appears in the notification area as it should but also the updates icon appears behind it.
I installed flameshot which also creates a tray icon and the same happened as you can just see the updates icon behind it.

Anybody else seeing this weirdness ?

  Keyboard 10 key not working

I just found that the 10 key on my keyboard isn't working after I installed Lite 4.8. I've rebooted, then shut down and restarted, but to no avail. Anybody have any thoughts?

  Updates
Posted by: smhardesty - 06-07-2020, 06:39 PM - Forum: On Topic - Replies (15)

I've been gone a while. I tinkered around with Mint Mate and Mint XFCE, then I've had a whole bushel basket of health issues. I'm just now getting around to loading Lite 4.8 on my laptop.

My question pertains to the availability of the Mint Update that Ralph tweaked. I was unable to install it using his instructions. I sent a message to him, but haven't received any answer so checked on his status. I see where he hasn't logged on since October 2019. Therefore I have 2 questions. First, is the Mint Update he tweaked no longer available? If so, I can use the default updater if I only knew where to find it. I'm not seeing any updater in the default installation. I have Lite Updates Notify and Lite Upgrade, but I'm not seeing any updater. Yes, I know I can use Synaptic, but I would kind of like to have some sort of updater.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

  Hard Drive Full???
Posted by: bigskill - 06-07-2020, 06:38 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (11)

Hi;I have linux lite X32 installed on an old laptop.
It has ran for over a year. I keep it updated at least weekly.
This past week it started locking up.  I then got error message hard drive full.I checked and it was at 100% 72gb. and it then started not loading properly..
I deleted all files in downloads and media. emptied trash. got it to 97%.
I had next to no files on this laptop.
How do I find/get rid of/clean up the excess files  70+gb excessive for OS and very few apps.
Why would drive fill up, I have no downloads/music/videos.

TIA

  Document Scanner (simple-scan)
Posted by: Marty - 06-07-2020, 05:06 PM - Forum: Other - No Replies

I have used different versions of Lite and have never had issues with my Canon CanoScan Lide 35 scanner. I am using Lite 5.0 and I cannot get the Quality Brightness or Contrast settings to work. I have removed and re-installed the app several times. It seems that some dependencies may be missing. Any help will be appreciated.

Getting these update errors for the last 2 weeks and updates fail.I removed blueman and dropbox, and then it works, but how do I get bluetooth to work?
